I tried one at at my local Apple store today. Very slick. Not for me but still, very slick.

There are many fan boy types in our society that are annoying, but I am not going to judge everyone that owns a certain product based on that factor, that is just dumb.
The fact that you choose to build your own computer is GREAT, but doesn't apply to everyone. I use a Mac everyday and I have a 2nd mouse button which works just fine.
It all boils down to people making the choices they want. You and some of these other seem rather irritated that folks make the choice for Apple. What I do, what you do they maybe two different things. It doesn't make one of us smarter, wiser or better than the other. This is all so juvenile honestly!
It is just like motor cycles. There are those that like Harley's and those that like Honda's. Now the guys that like Harley's don't think much of those Honda's and I can tell you that most who own Honda's talk this shame shit about how Harley's are over priced. I know a guy that built his own bike and he thinks it is better than the Harley and the Honda. However at the end of the day they each got what they want and should they really give two shits about what the other decided to get? So gain what is the point?
Apples are definitely slick. I had an Apple laptop back in 1999 when I bought my first 486 PC. I remember thinking that the Apple was a lot more fun to use, but I couldn't get over the fact that the PC did everything just as well. And it was 1/4 of the cost.
Yes they are and if you thought it was slick at the store, you'd really find out just how slick they are once you actually used it for while day in and day out.
So, what makes you feel it wasn't for you? Price? Hardware? Just curious! I was on the fence a long, long time before I finally said. You know I've looked, I played. But I am never going to really know until I just buy one and try it. So, I found a damn good deal on one and even made sure it had a 30 day return policy.
Many things DAB; 1 - support for Exchange is only just now available on a Mac. I live and breath with Exchange. If it doesn't work correctly, I'm fucked.
Why do I NEED to switch? Like BMF, I build PC's,
(for a living mind you). I know them inside and out. All I do all day/night is fix and build PC's. My families PC's hum 24/7/365.
I LOVE the fact that I know PC's inside & out and can fix/UPGRADE them with my eyes closed. Won't be the same with a Mac.
I use a tablet PC because I like the inking ability when I'm in meetings or site visits to take notes. Other than that I don't have a need for a portable computer.
Can I use Outlook on a Mac? I assume so. What I saw from the stock email/calendar app's were lacking what I need which is all my information in one program; Calendar, email, address book and tasks.
Imagine how much more difficult it would have been for me on the iphone with no cut and paste!

Dude, the iphone has cut/copy/paste. I've actually had it on mine for almost a year.
I DO NOT know that you need to switch, you created a thread wanting to know why you should switch. So, I was curious why after looking you decided it wasn't for you.
The Exchange concern is a legit one and there does appear to be some issues with it for some. What hasn't been decided is it because the Exchange implemented by Apple and approved by MS used EWS only or isn't because there are still a lot of companies using 2003 Exchange server and or running 2007 and haven't installed EWS and the required latest updates will have problems. MS is going totally to EWS in the newer version of Outlook so Apple in the long run will help them PUSH these lazy ass admins and IT departments to go ahead and update. This is my guess why MS approved only the EWS version of Exchange for the Mac OS.
I did a GoDaddy Exchange Hosting account for a 90 day trial and it is working perfectly under Snow Leopard. It pushes mail, calendar and contacts with no problem whatsoever. The Go Daddy version of exchange seems to be a bit more versatile than Mailstreet as they actually allow you to create secondary idents so that you can send email from any email address or domain you want.
MS Office 2008 for Mac includes Entourage which is an Outlook knock-off. It pretty much works the same way as Outlook and support exchange using IMAP like Outlook but also adds EWS, unlike Outlook. Office 2010 for Mac will actually include Outlook as they have decided to drop Entourage all together. Probably a smart move on MS part if nothing more than name recognition. The current build in Exchange support though isn't an all in one package with Apple Mail. You have everything integrated into the OS, but not into a single program. It works much the same in reality because the only difference with Outlook is that it just goes to another window inside the program. Where as with the Mac version you go to another window in the OS and can actually move between them or have them side by side if you like. It is just a bit different approach and in some ways I think I like it better. Still unless you actually use it, you can only assume you wouldn't, but you'd never really know. However if you like what you have and you feel you have no need to switch then don't. That is the beauty of choice as I've been saying.
Like I said for many years I too built PC's. In my mind though that is no reason to stay stuck there. I can build them, I can repair them and actually consider myself to be an expert in doing so. However, I have found it a lot of fun learning a new OS and before long I'll be just as proficient with it as I am Windows. This day and time in my life I am thinking retirement, I don't need to worry about building PC's. I'll leave that to others.
I do appreciate the reply as I feel finally someone actually makes some sense and gave some logical reason for feeling that the Mac isn't a legit choice for them. If only others could be as articulate rather than just bring up the Apple fan thing, paying too much, hating the company.

Not having copy and past was never an issue for me as mine has always had this feature. I can imagine it would be a hinderance not having it, but for the little I do it, I probably wouldn't miss it.
In terms of Mac's being better and easier for graphics and such. I think you only need to look to all the movie studios and movie producing companies and I'll think you'll find they use Macintosh. CGI is a beautiful thing!
By the way for the record you've never heard me say the Mac is particularly better at anything. I think there are some aspects of it I like better and some aspects of Windows I like better. I own both and I use both on a daily basis. Sometimes though you have to own something to appreciate it.
I think on this forum we have some very good Mac users and I never hear them ragging on PC's and I never see them starting thread to push that sort of BS. I think we've had some good discussions and kept them sensible and logical.
I am having lots of fun as I always do, you just don't know me well enough to know just how much fun I do have every single day!

I take stuff the way you write it. You don't mean it literally then don't write it as such. You tend to try to vale what you are really saying with a funny icon.
None the less this thread isn't about me or you. Also how do you know I don't use my Mac for Photoshop or graphics. I just simply made the point that for those that are SERIOUS about graphics many of them do use Macintosh computers.
Macintosh fits real well into my budget too as it does a lot of folks! But you just keeping going on and on about it. Why does it bother you so damn much that there are those of us that spend our money on Mac's? Please explain why you give two shits?

Okay good for you, that is your choice. However their are some of us that don't see shit through your eyes and thoughts. Mac fit the bill nice for us, which for whatever reason you just can't seem to let go of. So you don't like Apple, do I really care what you like? No, I didn't buy my Mac for you, I bought it for me. That is the point that you can't seem to get through your thick skull. No one is forcing you buy a freaking Mac, but don't chastise others because they bought one. We all have a choice, you made yours and I made mine. End of the story!
