A party classic... love that bass line.
"Take Your Time (Do It Right)"
I just noticed this. Cool song, one of their oldest.
A fun one from this week's 1971 Countdown.
"My dog Sam eats purple flowers..."
"Draggin' the Line"
That is a good one. Tommy James is underrated
Always great to hear that song.
One of the best songs of all time. RIP Glen Campbell.
"The Whole of the Moon"
The lead singer sounds like the lead singer of James.
"You think you're so pretty"
I always think that song is somebody else.
I listen to lots of 70's soul music.
Smooth production on this one.
"I'll Be Around"
A good song that I don't hear very often anymore.
Very typical of the time, with awesome classic bass riff, and progressive rock style keyboard solo.
I think the 7 minute play time has something to do with it.
On this week's countdown of songs from this week in 1980...
"Everybody's Got to Learn Sometime"
I don't remember that song.
I don't remember it from back then either. I guess I've learned to like it from hearing it in the occasional countdown...
The Power Station - I wish they had stayed together longer. That rhythm section was killer. Palmer was a cool singer too.
The Power Station
"Some Like It Hot"
They were excellent, and made me realize how much musicianship there really was in Duran Duran.
I liked their cover version of "Get It On (Bang A Gong)":
Not sure if I ever gave much thought to the lyrics of this song, but I always like the sound of the guitar.
The Smashing Pumpkins
I always dug it too.
