20 billion spent on a 4 billion return...eek. i guess they thought having the eyes of the world on them for 2 weeks was worth it.

Los Angeles is bidding for 2024. I think they would do a much better job building and using Olympic venues than Rio or Sochi

isn't the rose bowl, or one of those stadiums that is still in use, from their last olympics?

The LA Memorial Colosseum. But they would need to put the track back in.

When the Raiders played there, they decided to expand the seating, so they took out the track, lowered the field, and added seating that went down to the sidelines

Phoenix

Here in Phoenix, there an old mall called Metrocenter right in the heart of the city and it's partially abandoned.

Some company bought the old mall, quite bit of property around it and there trying to bring it back to life. Now whole of bunch of name brand and decent stores and restaurants have moved in around the property and the next phase is about to begin on the mall.

This is the future proposal of the mall, which will include office, medical buildings and light rail should reach to the property one day, but currently Wal Mart is under construction.

abandoned places are creepy and cool but dying/going out of business places are sad.

this guy has a whole bunch of videos like this in his "dead mall series" that can be neat to look through.

i've been watching a ton of this guy's dead mall videos ever since i found his one on kmart. this is one of the weirdest. it's an open mall but it seems to only have 1 store in it, an arcade. really crazy.

Outside of west Phoenix, there is one huge abandoned building opened in the 60's and only used for couple of years is the Phoenix Trotting Park. The place does look creepy when you drive past it off the freeway.

There was a movie filmed there No Code of Conduct (1998) - IMDb where they had a huge explosion scene.

Soon this place will be off the abandoned list, because the old Phoenix Trotting Park will be demolished sometime in December.

I'm watching a brand new episode of Ghost Adventures and it was filmed in Casa Grande, a abandoned placed called the Domes.

The Weird Abandoned Domes of Casa Grande, Arizona - Urban Ghosts Media

I drove through Casa Grande couple of times. This place is off I-8 and I believe I drove pass this place many years ago and it does look creepy as hell. Coming to find out the place is quite haunted due to satanic worshiping, animal and human sacrificing.

The Boston Globe just did an updated article about the long-defunct Portsmouth Naval Prison in Kittery, Maine, but this is the original one from 2014, with the slideshow of pictures.

This super-creepy looking place can be seen from some of the most exclusive areas of the New Hampshire seacoast, such as New Castle.
