I feel the same way for the most part, although 'Higher Ground' is still a banger.

My wife is also annoyed by them (particularly Californication). Also The Tragically Hip.

It is an ok song. I don't particularly like it but am not annoyed by it.

I'll still groove to Give it Away, because Flea is awesome on bass.

Higher Ground and Give It Away are still monster tracks for me. I tend to play them loudly.

Everclear. Any song that comes on is a channel changer.

And wouldn't you know it, Art Alexakis has his own show on Lithium.

"Give It Away" was kind of ruined by a painter. This dude was painting my front door, so I had to stay home and keep an eye on the house. I'm sitting on the couch watching TV. He's behind me painting the door with earphones on. He's listening to "Give It Away". He's humming along, then he leans into:

What I've got you've got to get it put it in you
What I've got you've got to get it put it in you
What I've got you've got to get it put it in you

    Creepy.

Haha! My favorite blogger, Jeff Kay of The West Virginia Surf Report, posted this a few weeks ago.
What's Your Relationship With The Big Brands? | The West Virginia Surf Report!

And it starts out like this:
"Before we get into this one, I have a couple of quick things… First of all, why is there so much Everclear hatred in the world? I’m listening to their So Much For The Afterglow album and enjoying the living shit out of it. I like most of their stuff, at least the stuff I’ve heard. But whenever I mention them — almost without exception — people shout, “Oh god, I hate them!” I don’t understand. The songs are solid, the lyrics are compelling, and the guitars are crunchy. Why all the hate? I’m baffled. Oh well."

It's the depression that comes around from Alexakis working through his father abandonment issues on (what seems like) every song.

I guess I could have daddy issues, too.

Like all white kids living in a black neighborhood are scared

I caught his show (Accidentally!) on Lithium a few times. His voice is monotone as fuck. No real variance there. Real boring to listen to. And I'm not big fans of the band either. I was more a Collective Soul/Gin Blossoms guy during the 90's.

Oh boy, where to start? And how to narrow my list of annoying songs to 20 or 30 when I could easily name a thousand?

Van Morrison's Brown Eyed Girl, the most overplayed song of the past 50 years. Everything by Wilson Pickett, Pink Floyd, Beastie Boys, Limp Bizkit, Journey, Red Hot Chili Peppers and Pearl Jam (with the exception of their remake of J. Frank Wilson's Last Kiss).

Feelings, Float On, Funky Worm, My Humps, Ice Ice Baby, The Thong Song, The Birdie Song, Laffy Taffy, Beat Dat Beat, Reasons, Hampsterdance
(yes, it was spelled that way), Hot In Herre (yes, it was spelled that way), Tennessee Birdwalk, Chirpy Chirpy Cheep Cheep, Crazy Frog, Macarena, Mambo No. 5, I'm Too Sexy, Play That Funky Music, Who Let The Dogs Out, Mr. Blobby, Feliz Navidad and Grandma Got Run Over By A Reindeer.

And 100% of opera songs, 99.9% of rap songs, 99% of heavy metal songs, 95% of hip-hop songs and 95% of James Brown songs. I could keep going but it's almost bedtime.

I thought that Last Kiss was one of PJ's worst songs.
I think they are much more effective and genuine when they are pissed off about something.

And I just read that Right Said Fred is finally able to wear a shirt again after a successful sexy reduction operation.

I'm Too Sexy is a great song from the ’90s. Plus it popular in the gay community. I'm too sexy for DRC.

Mister scotch, I can tolerate a few of Pink Floyd's 1970s songs but none of their later work. Here are several more songs which will cause to me to reach for the channel selector or "off" button as soon as I hear the first few notes -- and some of the more recent songs I have never heard in their entirety because they're so awful I change the station after just a few seconds: Rico Suave, She Bangs, Bubble Butt, Bump N' Grind, Chewing Gum, Chinese Food, Livin' La Vida Loca, Swagger Jagger, Friday, Wiggle, Stupid Hoe, Sweet Home Alabama, Beez In The Trap, Na Na Hey Hey Kiss Him Goodbye, Get The Funk Out Ma Face and Tear The Roof Off The Sucker.

Here is what just might be the most annoying song ever recorded: Santa's Summer by Iselin Michelsen, a Swedish singer whose 2012 hit Chewing Gum, which I named above, is also one of the most annoying songs ever recorded:

That's an instant channel changer for me.
The same with anything by the Smiths.

But hey, it's music. There's something for everyone.
