OK..I am a Vietnam veteran but I can't really get up on my high horse since aside from weekly guard duty on the fence, the only action I saw was typing up papers in Soc Trang and Can Tho. Anyhow, it's not a matter of Howard pretendingto be a vet... It would be fine if it were a tiny bit funny..but. "I remember blowing up that school full of gook kids"... etc etc.... is not remotely funny...

I agree. It's not as much offensive, though I could see how it could be to some people, it's just not funny at all. Though I'm sure just like a lot of the other stuff that annoy the hell out of me (lame Sal & Richard calls especially) there are people out there who think it's the greatest thing ever.

Totally agree. I CRINGE every time he does this. It's offensive to me. Neigh, thank you for your fence action, lol.

It's not funny but was it ever?

People loved the Kennedy impressions too and I thought that was horribly unfunny. Whenever Howard tries to do stuff impromptu it's never funny but that's my opinion.

wow???? i love when howie does the nam shit. he pretty much dropped it for the first 4 years of sirius and i only remember him doing it late last year. i get such a kick outta him talking about his gook finger and tooth necklace and killing all the kids but they only counted as half a person. this is old school shit that we allways bitch about him not doing anymore. i was glad to hear him bring it back. i thought the 'new' howie wouldnt do it anymore. i also think it would be cool if he did a whole show about his war stories.

Indeed. We know it's all bullshit, but it's like Riley. Entertaining bullshit.

The only downer of the interview was when he asked the guy he suffered any losses.

BTW -- What ever happened to Keith Manning?

I think it's kinda funny but I can see how it could offend a Vietnam Vet. I was born after nam was over (that's my excuse);)

Kennedy is ok IMO, nothing like taking a few shots at the "Err Mary Jo Who?" American er ra royals lol. .

Vietnam War humor is mainstream. The Simpsons makes light of a character with PTSD regularly.

This is the furthest I've seen it go on a cartoon: [ame]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=boN2lR7vwWE[/ame]

i am not a vet, so i am not have the man that neigh is.....

that being said, i get a kick out of it too, but i could see how it could be offensive to someone who has actually served.

Yea it bugs me sometimes when he says that shit. I lost a few friends in Iraq and I almost lost my own life. There is nothing funny about war. Nothing!! The shit I've seen happen would make your heads spin. It's not funny at all.

My father and uncles were in Vietman 3 tours each and we never ever talk about what when on when they were over there and when I was in Iraq and Afghanistan. They didn't want me to serve, but I felt it was the right thing to do and I miss being part of it.

I found it funnier in the KROQ days when it was more about the *illusion* that Howard was a vet - that certain guests would believe it, because he would keep it somewhat believable. It was funny for awhile, but it's a bit played out. I feel the same way with the impressions of his parents. Sometimes it still works but for me, most of the time it just doesn't anymore.

He was taking a call from a Marine about preferences in porn but otherwise the Marine was all duty, honor, country. He was calling Howard "sir" and refusing to answer questions about people he had killed. So Howard making a joke about attrocities perpetrated by the US military upon "gook kids" (the honor part) to this guy seemed especially cringeworthy. Let's face it, Howard jokes about Asians and Arabs as if they were cock roaches.

This is the furthest I've seen it go on a cartoon: YouTube - Vietnam memorial family guy

they dont do it so much anymore but principal skinner's nam flashbacks are the best!
