Kajagoogoo. By far the worst. Rick Dees said the name was the sound a fat woman make trying to get out of a bathtub! :eek:mfg:

Spiral Staircase is kinda dumb, but they had a great one hit wonder song :)

Jigsaw. But they had a cool song, too ...

Favorite (of favourite) has to be Sgt Peppers Lonely.Hearts Club Band :)

Bad:

Limp Bizkit - seriously? WTF is this? I liked their early stuff but never understood this name.
Chumbawumba - More like Chumbasuckit
Butthole Surfers - Pepper was such a good song but it was nearly always impossible to tell anyone who performed it. I'd always get a "Wtf did you just say" sort of look.

Good:

The Beatles - I know it's simple but I always thought it was clever.
Rammstein - So, that's about as good as it gets. Battering Ram! F*#k yes!
Sex Pistols - Dick reference? who knows...

All band names are good band names. Especially horrible band names are great band names. "Butthole Surfers" and "Kajagoogoo" are equally brilliant.

I went to a Sam Goody in the 80s looking for these big plastic q-tips to clean my 4-track tape deck's heads. I was staring at the cleaning products when a woman who worked there asked if she could help me find anything. I told her I was looking for lint-free swabs. She said she would go see if they had any, and proceeded to thumb through the albums under "L".

I went home and made a band named "Lint Free Swabs".

This seems more like a list sort of thread, not the anecdote nook.

I try but you keep sneaking them in there.
You know, I remember a band that had named themselves after a rather interesting event in history. That band's name was a bit odd, unless you knew about the connection to history. Well...sorry.....I guess that's more anecdotal than listy.... Please disregard. . . .

I like band names that confuse people:
