    3. BLINDED BY THE LIGHT - MANFRED MANN'S EARTH BAND

If there was ever a band that should be paid by the original artist for covering one of there songs, this is it.

Not only do most people not know this is a remake, it's so different from the original, people wouldn't even think the two songs are the same.

Bruce Springsteen should be paying MMEB for recording it.

For your amazement and amusement, here is Joyce Berry's version of Blinded By The Light, released July 1, 1981. Berry is chiefly a back-up singer but she has also recorded as Debbie Sims, Karen West and Laurie Maitland. I don't know which of those four names is her real name. Maybe none of them.

Sally G was the b side to Junior's Farm btw and Snookeroo was written by Elton John and Bernie Taupin.

In early 1975, Junior's Farm reached #3 on the Hot 100. Sally G, the B-side, charted separately and got to #17 -- but it also reached #51 on the country chart. (a 1989 duet of Act Naturally by Buck Owens and Ringo Starr got to #27 on the country chart.)

Paul was inspired to write the song after hearing Dianne Gaffney perform at a country music club. He had planned to call the song Dianne G but, fearing she might sue him, changed it to Sally G. The song was recorded in Nashville. Johnny Gimble played violin on the session and Lloyd Green played dobro and pedal steel guitar. To this day, Paul has never performed the song in concert. I don't know why.

I don't think Sally G would fit in any set with Paul & Wings.

Frank Mills was born in Montreal and started playing piano at age three. Music Box Dancer reached #3 on the Hot 100 but got only to #47 on the Canadian pop chart. His first single, Love Me Love Me Love, reached number one in Canada in early 1972 but stalled at #46 in the US, proving that Canadians liked to hear Mills sing but didn't like to hear him play piano, eh? Here is Love Me Love Me Love:

This Canadian likes and liked Music Box Dancer. My dog at the time (in 1979) used to go into a barking frenzy whenever it was played. He did it for most of his 15 years until he became virtually deaf. We knew he was deaf because he stopped reacting to that song.

You think he liked the song, or didn't like the song... that he reacted to it?
