Funny that the way they're describing the next big thing, is what SXM was supposed to be.

If Howard goes with Google, he'll have to let go of the Apple fanboy thing.

With Jon on board, no way that happens.

And I do think SXM *was* the next big thing. You don't go from ~600k subscribers to several million in just a couple years and NOT be a big thing...and they really did it because of Howard. Assuming Howard went elsewhere or stayed at FM in 2006, it's widely assumed that XM would have swallowed Sirius...but no way it would have as many million subscribers as it does today. (And yes, I'm aware that numbers are fudged.)

I respectfully disagree. If the boff makes the switch, he will sing the company line. The drones beneath him will also comply. Expect to hear lines like:

"I never said Google didn't make a good product. They make a great product!"
"Things kind of went downhill when Steve Jobs died."
"The Google stuff is so much simpler...and cheaper!"

I just hope that if he does keep doing his radio show he keeps his word and doesn't re-sign with AGT. It gets old listening to poor little Howard complain about his working hours at AGT while he's getting paid millions of dollars he doesn't need to do it. I also don't watch or have any interest in watching that show so to me it's just something that makes his radio show worse.

the complaining doesn't bother me. i like a grumpy howard. but i too would like him to quit agt. i know it hasnt started yet this year but the 2 and 1 day weeks suck! i know he gets the same # of vacation days from sirius no matter what but id much rather him take full weeks off than just get this seemingly random schedule of 3, 2 and 1 day weeks.

By the time Howard went on the air for Sirius in 2006, XM had accumulated 6M subscribers in 4 years. When the merger got approved, XM was up to 8M. So satellite radio was a growing market, separately from whatever Howard added. Granted that he boosted the less successful Sirius, and he holds a percentage of SXM listeners, but it's nowhere near the overall subscription figures.

THAT...would be awesome.

SFN (or what's left of it, as I don't think it sees the traffic it once did), then would have a "Hein's a hypocrite" thread and someone would post audio of the Apple love. Howard would be alerted to those threads and then spend the opening hour blasting SFN.

I can see it both ways. There's something comforting about listening on Monday and knowing it's a live show, therefore he'll be live the full "week." Likewise, if you tune in Monday and hear Artie discussing his weekend with the Killers of Comedy (or whatever), you can tune out and know to tune back in the next Monday. The two-day-weeks are "ok..he's live now" but there's that tension about if he'll be around on Monday or not.

I don't think there's been any one-day-weeks, but I get the point.

If you count lifetimes of people that have stopped listening plus the smudgy numbers that are "counted" as car subscriptions that are really cars sitting in dealer lots, they may be close to 20 or whatever million. That's what I was talking about when I said they fudge the numbers...and for a while, Sirius was counting them on the lot, while XM waited until the car was sold but still in trial mode.

Howard officially declared this morning that he's done with AGT, and said that Simon Cowell was going to take his place.

He also mentioned a very interesting TV opportunity offered by 2 different networks he's considering, and he made positive remarks about renewing with SiriusXM. Of course he had to throw-in the bullshit about how he took them from 400K subscribers to 27M.

He also said he was done with Tom...how many times?

And I see Howard is still as delusional as ever. I guess every HBO subscriber watches Game of Thrones or every Comcast customer watches HGTV.

This, plus XM brought 8M non-HSS subscribers to the merger. But the stupidest thing is that today, one can easily count the number of subs with the XM lineup that don't have the HSS package, but Howard never mentions that.

This was already brought up but didn't the sony hacking scandal reveal they wanted Simon Cowel instead of Howard?

I doubt I'll watch AGT if Simon replaces Howard next season anyway. I wonder if NBC is planning on doing something with Howard? Maybe A Game show?

There's a list on SFN of all his projects. We tend to forget about a lot of them. Some, like US Open Sores, happened. Others, like Scott(?) and the porn guy at Giants Stadium, didn't.
