Why have so many renowned architects died this year? And should we consider taking out a life insurance policy on Mister Hectic? Not that I want to scare him, but......

I've been wondering what's going on with that.
It's not surprise that people are fighting over the design and rebuilding of it.
I'm pretty much a modernist, but I think that I/d rather see them rebuild it pretty much like it was. I don't think it needs to be an exact replica, but something sympathetic to it seems right.

Perhaps some fire retardant added to the wood might be in order but yes, build it the same.

That is typical for new wood construction. They can do that with old wood too, but I'm not sure how good it is.
Steel is probable more cost effective to rebuild. I'm sure that they will have a sprinkler system next time.
They could have installed a sprinkler in the old one before it burned down, and it would have saved everyone a lot of money and aggravation.

They were working on upgrades when the fire happened. It would be ironic if that was one of the upgrades being done that ultimately started the fire.

It is indeed.
I was looking at that on my cell while I was waiting to get a haircut. I thought it was the Sistine Chapel. My bad.

On the big screen, it was clear that I thought I was looking at the wrong place.
I've been to the Sistine, but haven't been to Versailles yet. I'd like to some day.
