Another Beverly Hills mansion is on the market. Pharrell Williams, whose hits include Happy, Get Lucky and Come Get It Bae, bought it from Tyler Perry in 2018. It has glass walls so you'll have nice views while you're stuck inside under coronavirus isolation.

I almost put this in the Celebrity Death Thread, but a lot of east coasters know the building, and probably don't know his name.
Unfortunately, the COVID got him.

This is the architectural equivalent to Starship's "We Built This City"; topping lists as the worst. But I wouldn't wish the guy dead.
It's a building people love to hate for sure. It's style is brutalist, and it's ponderously cold, heavy, and unapologetically modern. An heroic display of the significance of the governments place in the community.

I didn't like it at first, but grew to appreciate it. There really is some cool geometry going on there.

I've toured Fallingwater and Unity Temple from that list, and I've toured Taliesen, but not West. Hollyhock House was closed for renovations when I was there.
I know that I've been in at least 15 or 16, and have seen a bunch more. I should check out a couple of those tours though.

One architecture thing that always stuck with me.. When I was maybe 7, my family visited the New England states and Quebec and Montreal. In Montreal they have the Notre Dame Basilica, which is just stunning to look at. Gothic style, built in the 1800's.

It looks Photoshoppy to me.
The shadows on the door look odd, there's a wedge at the door threshold, the bottom corner of blue siding isn't lined up with the foundation wall, there is only a couple of inches between the window on the side wall and the front wall, and the shadows on the porch/wall don't look right either.

I think I'd steer clear of the commission.
You could do some cool stuff with a lot of statues, but I'd rather end up on the cover of a magazine for designing a cool building, not for celebrating antiquated redneck culture.

Ask Hitler's architect how things worked out for him.

We hired an architect. Well, a landscape architect, certified. So for a bit of money, she made a very nice plan for how we can spend a lot more money to have all our exterior work done. I was hesitant, but she really knew what she was talking about, and we can show these to landscapers, at a schedule that works for us.
