Lynx daylight savings time

Anyone know how I can update the clock on the lynx so it reflects the proper time? The other day when we went back to standard time, my radio didn't update. The time zone is set correctly (eastern), the date is right, but the time is an hour behind.

I'd think it should be automatic but the xmp3i had a manual setting for DST. If there is one on the Lynx, I can't find it.

    Funny! I hasn't noticed yet.
It's also funny that you can set the clock to Fiji time, who doesn't get reception, and there isn't compensation for daylight savings.

Set it for Atlantic (or whatever) to compensate. Hopefully they give an update soon.

    Welcome to the DRC.

I did that at first but it adjust the times of my recorded shows. So, my show that's on from 12-3 got changed to record from 1-4. Same difference if I leave it Eastern and it's an hour behind.

I can change it from recording "shows" to setting times instead I guess.

    Thanks for the reply.

The Lynx only shows correct time when connected to Wifi. Ever since the time changed last weekend, clock only shows correct time when WiFi is on. For some reason, when you change from portable to dock, the WiFi is automatically turned off. You have to manually turn it back on and clock is corrected. Maybe next firmware update will correct this.

I have an open ticket about this with Sirius. Someone responded to an email message I sent, gave me their number, and I spoke to him yesterday.
The number I called was for XM Corporate Customer Relations, so I don't think it is their 1st level support. 877-283-6506
Anyway, he had not heard about this issue, but he was going to report it to I.T. and promised to call me today.
    Keeping my fingers crossed...

I am surprised SXM is still having these issues. I would have thought after their SL* fiascos they would have double checked this.

I am surprised that you are surprised- This is SiriusXM we are talking about!

In the past when Daylight Savings Time changes, seemed like there was always 1 or 2 radios that had problems.

There is that saying 'fool me once, shame on you. fool me twice, shame on me'. Also some people learn from their mistakes.

With the sats, they had an ideal opportunity to avoid the logic on the radio. They should have just given GMT + flag for DST active or not. Radio would apply fixed offsets for timezone then correct for DST if requested by the radio and sat flag is active. On the date changes, you just have to turn the flag on or off on the sat.

Thanks for the homework assignment. We have a Lynx here at TSS Radio, and I have it set to Satellite Radio, set on Central Time, and have the correct time displayed. I'll double check the settings, and see what I can report.

Pete, try turning WiFi off, power down and turn unit back on and see if clock is correct.

I do have Wi-Fi off, but I will power down, and see what happens.

Looking at the settings, the Lynx "Displays the current time. The time is sent with the SiriusXM signal and is not adjustable."

Yep, I'm now an hour behind.

So, the satellites are not sending correct data- this could effect all scheduled recordings if not connected to the internet .

My Tao and SL2 show correct time. It's how the Lynx is interpreting the info which is wrong.

    Thanks for confirming this Pete!

When I first made this post, I was hoping I was just missing something simple. With a device that records scheduled shows like a dvr, you'd think they would be on top of this priority one.

I had 3 scheduled recordings last night that all worked on time. You just have to make sure the time is correct before you power it down.

99% of the time I leave it in the car dock so it's not usually hooked up to wifi. If I bring it inside, hook it to wifi, bring it back to the car where it disconnects from wifi, will the time hold until I recycle the power?

    Not sure about that

Mine didn't. It changed as soon as it connected to the satellites. As a workaround, I've just set up my recorded shows as recorded channels to forgo the guide.

The other annoyance is the top line that displays the current show is off by an hour as well.
