20th Anniversary of Pearl Jam’s MTV Unplugged Performance
Today @ 2:00 pm ET

Not really. They did an impromptu acoustic show a short time prior, when they were scheduled to do a show in Europe. The stage could barely hold them, let alone all their stuff. They asked some local guys to go out and get them some acoustic gear. When they returned to the US, MTV asked them if they wanted to do an acoustic show. Their response was something like "yeah, we just did one...sure, we'll do another one."

Review from allmusic:
Soundgarden split acrimoniously after the 1996 release of Down On the Upside, but they always seemed a band ripe for reunion, and not just because Chris Cornell flailed through his new-millennial solo career. Soundgarden always seemed a band built for the long haul, destined to have their love of '70s metal roots overtake their punk roots. That's what happened with their 1994 breakthrough, Superunknown, and that's where Soundgarden return on their 2012 reunion King Animal, acting like nothing -- not even the murky Down On the Upside -- happened in the ensuing 18 years. As heavy as it is -- and it is, the slower songs either being dirges or semi-psychedelic swirls; the burnished introspections of Cornell's solo work have been banished -- King Animal is a big, bright album, executed with precision and professionalism. The bandmembers sound older, not quite as loud, and possess a keener sense of good taste, and it sounds as if they've aged together, which is a testament to their innate chemistry. Simply put, Soundgarden sound like they belong together; Cornell sounds richer, fuller when anchored by drummer Matt Cameron, bassist Ben Shepherd, and the deceptively sinewy and brainy guitarist Kim Thayil, whose presence has sorely been missed over the past decade. Apart from the occasional lapse of smutty humor, all of Soundgarden's signatures are in place, and it's a pleasure to hear Cornell's modulated wail, just as it is to hear Thayil's brawny riffs tangle with Cameron and Shepherd. All this is apparent upon the first listen, and if it does take some time for the songs of King Animal to sink in, that doesn't diminish the album in the slightest: this is a surprisingly strong reunion, one that puts the band back on the track they abandoned long ago. Will it never end????!!!!! :banghead:
Because then we can go to something offbeat and obscure like Jamaican techno which will sell so many millions of subscriptions that they won't need to (effectively) sell the channels, right?

There's several channels on TV I don't like...I just skip right past them or block them if I don't like them. I'd suggest you do the same and save the headaches. :)

I do agree that Sirius could use a pure punk channel...but I don't think replacing one rock channel with another rock channel is what you all want. Maybe something more obscure like a hillbilly music channel.

Mad Season was an American rock supergroup formed in Seattle, Washington in 1994 by members of three popular Seattle-based bands: Alice in Chains, Pearl Jam and Screaming Trees. Mad Season released only one album, Above, and is best known for the single "River of Deceit". The band went on a semi-permanent hiatus in 1996 due to the band members' conflicting schedules and vocalist Layne Staley's problems with substance abuse. Attempts were made in the late 1990s to revive the group without Staley; however, the band dissolved following the death of bassist John Baker Saunders in 1999. Staley died three years later of a drug overdose.

Temple of the Dog Anniversary Special

Pearl Jam Radio celebrates the anniversary of the historic release “Temple of the Dog†with extra selections from the album all day long.

Faithfull Forum: Temple of the Dog
Today 4:00 pm ET
The Rob hosts a special live call-in show celebrating the anniversary of Temple of the Dog's historic self-titled album. You can join the conversation at 1-855-9-PEARL-JAM

I, as well as many others, always thought of this great band that only released 1 album, as a Soundgarden/Pearl Jam collaboration, but is was way more than that. Temple of the Dog was an American rock band that formed in Seattle, Washington in 1990. It was conceived by vocalist Chris Cornell of Soundgarden as a tribute to his friend, the late Andrew Wood, lead singer of Malfunkshun and Mother Love Bone. The line-up included Stone Gossard on rhythm guitar, Jeff Ament on bass guitar (both ex-members of Mother Love Bone), Mike McCready on lead guitar, Matt Cameron on drums, and Eddie Vedder providing some lead and backing vocals.

The band released its only album, the self-titled Temple of the Dog, in April 1991 through A&M Records. Although earning praise from music critics at the time of its release, the album was not widely recognized until 1992, when Vedder, Ament, Gossard, and McCready had their breakthrough with Pearl Jam.
