New Sirius Music Lineup May 4th

DISH Network retailers were just notified of a number of channels to the SIRIUS Music Lineup on May 5th. As you might know the DISH Network Sirius Lineup mirrors the music channels on the radio service.

Here is the music lineup they were given...

7 years of subscribing to Sirius makes me very skeptical that channel changes will actually occur on the radio service.

Scott, any idea which current channels didn't make the new list?
Glancing at the list too quick I guess, I'm not seeing what's missing...

2 - The Blend
3 - Love
64 - Willie's Place
67 - enLighten

Attached is a zipped up Excel Spreadsheet (Office 97-2003 compatible) with all the channels we know from Scott's list, sorted by the new channel number. Of course, we don't know all the details, but I like how they fit so far.

Willies Place and Road House were merging. Heard that several months ago.

Maybe these are the ones which will be replaced for those lovely free minority channels we have been clamoring for.

The Blend yes, but Love is constantly preempted, which to me means it's not highly listened to.

On the list Willies Place and Roadhouse and merging together to become Willie's Roadhouse.

That is interesting, because over the last couple of weeks, I have perceived a change in the playlist @ Willies Place, they don't play near as much Texas Swing, and "old school" stuff.

The Blend used to be a good channel. But it has become a copy of ThePulse playing mostly 90s/00s and current crap. Not sorry to see it go.

I think that they still need some sort of "soft rock" channel. As others have implied, I think Love and The Blend will combine.

I have a feeling that some of the XM channels will fill the blank spots on the list. I believe that both services will have the same channel numbers, and between new stations not announced yet and the XM stations we will have to see.

Notice how Hits 1 is moving to channel 2... they are listed as Channel 2 for XM Internet Only already... maybe 20 on 20 will merge with Hits 1 and be on both services on channel 2?

With all these news and rumors are probably somewhat true. Like Willies Place and Roadhouse merging and I can probably see The Pulse and Pop2K, but I will believe it when it comes out.

Could this channel change rival "THE" channel change from 2004 or 2005? It seems like everything, with the exception of channels 4-9 are moving.

OTOH, this is interesting. Notice the odd gaps in the categories:

I wonder if 57 could be where XM's Nashville will go? I doubt they would put that on the Sirius side since that is a Clear Channel station.

No but if its a common lineup, the gap would be left and the channel be on the XM side only.

They gaps line up... Pop2K on 3, The Verge on 43, The Groove on 50, The Village on 62, Cinemagic on 73. Of course we could all be speculating on nothing. I think Top 20 on 20 gets the ax for Hits 1.

I think the same too about 20 on 20. They have been working on this for a while.
