Who knew 8-8 would win the division, AND be in a better seed than a 12-4 and 9-7 team.

I guess the Colts fired their vp & gm. Since they will be drafting Luck, the Niners should try & get Manning :)

The playoff seeding where division winners get preferred seeding causes this. Last year Seattle @ 7-9 hosted the New Orleans Saints @ 11-5.

The NFL needs to rethink that rule... winners of bad divisions shouldn't be rewarded with a home game!

I see where they want to have division winners get in the playoffs. But the seeding should be done based upon record after that. If they did that: This year:

AFC
1 - NE 13-3 (first round bye and home field)
2 - Balt 12-4(first round bye)
3 - Pitt 12-4 (host #6 wildcard game)
4 - Houston 10-6 (host #5 wildcard game)
5 - Cincinatti 9-7 (@#4)
6 - Denver 8-8 (@#3)

(only difference this week is Denver game would be at Pitt)

NFC
1 - GB 15-1 (first round bye and home field
2 - SF 13-3 (first round bye)
3 - NO 13-3 (host #6 wildcard game)
4 - ATL 10-6 (host #5 wildcard game)
5 - DET 10-6 (@#4)
6 - NYG 8-8 (@#3)

(Atlanta hosts Detroit while NO hosts NYG)

Of course Tennessee sitting @ 9-7 would ask why Denver @ 8-8 gets a playoff spot...
