Joining Jim high in the Hollywood Hills Tonight at 7pm ET / 4pm PT, legendary Doors songwriter and guitarist Robby Krieger!

I can't find any new music from Robbie- maybe they'll be talking about this:

JOHN DENSMORE AND ROBBY KRIEGER CONSIDERING RAY MANZAREK TRIBUTE
A couple months ago, John Densmore hinted that he and his former Doors bandmate Robby Krieger had buried the hatchet after a long feud and were even considering doing a tribute show for Doors keyboardist Ray Manzarek, who died of cancer in May. Seems it wasn’t just idle chitchat: Krieger now says that tribute concert could happen early next year.

“We’ve actually spoken a few times after Ray’s death,†Krieger told Billboard about his current relationship with Densmore. “I think it sort of showed us that, hey, you can’t hate somebody forever. It’s better to try to mend fences when you can, before it’s too late.â€

He added they’re “talking about doing a tribute to Ray, maybe on Ray’s birthday, Feb. 12, and give him a nice send-off.â€

The former bandmates were also interviewed together for the new Doors interactive app, which was the brainchild of Jac Holzman — the same guy who, in 1966, signed the group to his Elektra Records.

“There’s just tons of stuff [in the app], lots of stuff that nobody’s seen, a lot of outtakes from the studio,†Krieger said. “Most of the stuff has been on the Internet already … but this, it’s really for the true Doors fan that just wants everything that he’s never known about the Doors or already has, all in one package.â€

    ROBBY KRIEGER ANNOUNCES SOLO TOUR

Something’s cooking in Doors guitarist Robby Krieger’s kitchen.

Krieger has scheduled a new solo tour with his band Robby Krieger’s Jam Kitchen that will kick off on Aug. 9 in Sturgis, S.D., and run through early September, when it wraps up in Orlando. As ABC News Radio reports, Krieger’s Jam Kitchen lineup includes a number of seasoned rock vets, including a pair of former Frank Zappa sidemen (bassist Arthur Barrow and keyboardist Tommy Mars), War saxophonist Larry Klimas and session drummer Tom Brechtlein.

The new dates represent a renewed burst of solo activity for Krieger, who last toured in late 2012 behind his most recent album, the instrumental collection ‘Singularity.’ No word yet on whether the Jam Kitchen have plans to enter the studio after coming back from the road, or if these dates — which include a stop at the Buffalo Chip Music Festival in Sturgis — will be preserved for posterity with a live album.

Robby Krieger Summer 2013 Tour Dates
    8/09 – Sturgis, S.D.
    8/11 – Chicago, Ill.
    8/14 – Ferndale, Mich.

I sent Earle Bailey an email to see if they can start adding his Sunday shows to On Demand. That would make it easier to catch specials like this one.

Update: He did reply and said he would check to see if it is possible. He mentioned they may be short staffed in that department on the weekends.

Earle Bailey's show on Friday was one of those great intelligent programs that makes worthy the price for a SXM subscription- Thanks EB  :bigclap:

    On Demand
In our first hour, a change of seasons. 6 tracks to take you from summer to fall. Then one for winter.

In the second hour, Crosby/Nash, Stills, and Young. Also Crosby, Stills, Nash and Young. You’ll know when we get there.

At the top of our fourth hour, it’s a â€Head Trip for the Birdsâ€. An hour of tuneage about our winged friends in honor of the debut of “Woody Woodpecker†on TV 56 years ago.

But we will warm up for that with a half-hour thematic tangent during which we will get “funkyâ€. All “funky†all the time.

During our sixth hour, music from the sublime to the ridiculous during a 20 minute Black Light Room Break. Bring refreshments.

And, for the first time this year, we dig into the Halloween file for just one treat.

THIS JUST IN: John Densmore (from The Doors) will be joining Jim Ladd high in the Hollywood Hills Wednesday night (12/4) at 6pm PT / 9pm ET exclusively on Deep Tracks SiriusXM 27

John Densmore, the pulse of the legendary rock band The Doors, will be co-hosting this year’s benefit for the Rhythmic Arts Project on February 17th at the Lobero Theater. This wonderful program is dedicated to educating thousands of individuals with intellectual and developmental differences in Santa Barbara and around the globe by embracing a curriculum that encompasses rhythm as a modality to address basic life and learning skills as well as reading, writing and arithmetic. TRAP is the brainchild of drummer Eddie Tuduri, whose survival of a terrible surfing accident included musical rehabilitation. Actor/activist Edward James Olmos will co-host the show that will feature Santa Barbara favorite Robben Ford and the Yellowjackets. Brazilian legend Airto will also be on hand to give a special blessing at the performance. I was fortunate to have a conference call with John and Eddie one fine January morning.

When I hear an interview show on Deep Tracks, I switch to Boneyard. Deep Tracks is my favorite channel for music. There are plenty of talk channels at Sirius for interviews.

I do the same thing when I hear The Smiths.

I'm glad we have a lot of options.

You just hit on a huge advantage of being a member of Digital Radio Central. Keeping an eye on these music forums, you get programming updates like this. You get to find out what specials are on and get advised if your favorite programs will be pre-empted.

So plethysmo- you like the Jim Ladd show, but don't like his interviews? Call me crazy, but I only listen to his interviews. He's debuted a lot of great new albums in the last 2 years.

 Danno will be filling in for Meg next week on the morning shift.

When Dan was nine, he heard the likes of The Beatles and Rolling Stones introduced on a transistor radio and came to the conclusion: DJs were cool. Since 1977, Dan has spoken to and about the likes of Robert Plant, Bob Dylan and Eric Clapton, and also hosted the weekly rock program Up Close.

:agree: And Michael Tearson will step in for Jim Ladd all week!

DJing since the dawn of the album rock format, Michael Tearson spent his adult life on the airwaves sharing his deep knowledge of music and of the musician's mind. His record reviews appear in Sing Out! and The Audiophile Voice, and Michael is also an actor, appearing in numerous TV shows and films.
