The AKC (for dogs) was established in the 1880s, so I'm thinking that the concept of domesticating indoor pets originated about that time. Prior to that, it was probably for hunting, farming and livestock control.
Cattle were first domesticated 10,000 years ago. Before that, they were just animals living o this planet, kind-of like us.
And you know cows provide dairy and leather, right?
