Robin Quivers, Uninformed Newswoman

At that point in the show, Howard just wants to get the hell out of there, so he's unlikely to make a note of her lack of enthusiasm. I've commented previously about when Robin's clearly pulling the story together as she's reporting it. Each word has a 3 second delay. If JD was doing as half-assed a job as Robin, we'd never hear the end of it.

Think of "Progressives" and "Conservatives" as two big circles. In the conservative circle, we have the Tea Party, Republicans, Evangelicals and others. In the progressive circle, we have Democrats, maybe socialists, whatever the Bernie Bros are, etc.

We need a Venn diagram.

Actually, if you want to be technical, progressivism is a philosophy (as is liberalism), whereas democrat is a group. It's like the difference between socialism and communists. And while some people might prefer to be identified as democrats rather than progressives, I can't think of any tenets of the democratic party that goes against progressive philosophy.

But going back to the original comment, people on the right will use words like "progressive", "liberal", and my least favorite "leftist" (because it's not a word) to connote radicalism.

Just heard this and it was very odd. It's fine if you don't know what a progressive is (still weird for a "newswoman") but the odd part was how she went right on the attack when Howard explained what progressives are. She was trying to cover for looking silly after asking the question in the first place but wound up looking even worse. I often agree with her stance about labeling people...like her opinions on BLM, but in this case it didn't make sense.

I don't know what show it was but recently Robin quoted a report to the effect that all men are pedophiles because they continue to be attracted to 16 year olds into old age (myself included). WTF? 16 year olds are grown women. Most states allow 16 year olds to marry with parental consent. Sure she was only reporting on a report but she seemed to go along with it.

    Technically, it's called "Ephebophilia."

They use young models for a reason: that's what male humans find most attractive, and that isn't going to change with age. However, the scope of what a man will pursue, should change with age, but it doesn't sound like Robin focused on that in her report.

BTW, 16-year old girls are not grown women; they're minors, not adults; that's why they would need parental consent. Any guy older than 19 marrying a 16 year old is odd. For an 18 year old girl, the guy should be under 25. That's because (IMO) a teenager has a much different mindset, perspective, and life experience than that of a post-college age person.

Once a woman is in her mid 20's or so, I'd say it's not too weird if the guy is under 40. That's how I see it.

The law allows an exception when one of them is still a minor. If he's 29 and she's 25, no big deal. If he's 17 and she's 15, no big deal...but there'd be a point where he'd be 19 and she's be 16...therein lies the exception. I actually knew someone in that situation. Parental consent made the adult ok to date the minor because he was 18 or so and she was...something like 16.

Alright, I meant "grown women" in the physical sense. I do not advocate adult men dating, marrying or otherwise trying to get it on with 16 year olds. I do object to adult men being called pedophiles because they find 16 year olds attractive.

OK but this is not accurate either. "Ephebophilia is the primary or exclusive adult sexual interest in mid-to-late adolescents, generally ages 15 to 19." Robin was talking about men (actually all men) finding 16 year olds attractive. She did not limit it to men for whom "mid to late adolescents" are their "primary or exclusive adult sexual interest">

What do you call it when you find the women in erectile dysfunction television commercials hot as hell?

I might be that. Not only are they attractive, but they seem horny too.

So is it time to bring back the Ophelia conspiracy theories? During Liam Gallagher's interview, when robin first spoke, he acted surprised to hear her voice and asked "who was that?". So it could be that he couldn't see her from where the band sits or it could be that she wasn't in studio. IDK, but it got me thinking.

I don't think she's been in the studio for months.

This reminds me of a thing they do on the late night talk shows. Letterman would tape 2 shows on Thursday, and air the 2nd taping on Friday (I think they all do this now). Guests for the 2nd taping were instructed to act like it was Friday, so if their movie was premiering on Friday, they'd say "good luck at your premier tonight".

I imagine that Howard's guests are briefed, on how to act like Robin is in the studio.

I'm sure you are right about this. But I've talked about before how even though guests were clearly briefed during Robin's cancer stint there were still many guests who would bring it up anyway. So far Liam is the only one to mention it since these new theories started a few months back when Robin's mic wasn't working properly for like a week of shows. This leads me to believe that these days she may be either in studio all the time and I am crazy or she is only taking a day or two out of studio every month instead of not being there at all.

FWIW, Conan hasn't had Friday shows since he debuted on TBS.

Sidenote... Judge Mathis films in Chicago, but lives in California. He'll fly to Chicago for 2-3 weeks, tape a ton of shows, then go back to California for a while. With show repeats, he may only be in Chicago a total of 1-2 months out of the entire year.

Hometown celebrity Tom Bergeron (from Haverhill, MA) did the same thing when he hosted Hollywood Squares. In one long weekend (in L.A.), he'd tape a whole month of shows.

Talking about George Harrison's son putting out an album of music, Robin mocked the idea of the album, "who listens to records anymore?" Howard clarified that the term does not exclude downloading as a means of listening to an album.

Does Robin realize she's on radio? Who listens to radio anymore?

According to HowardLogic, Howard has over 30 million listeners.
