This seems like a good thread for me to start.

And it was inspired by this:

Virginia law allows people to legally be declared a drunk. Two-thirds are in Virginia Beach.

You can be labeled a "habitual drunkard" in VA. Haha!

The article seems to make it out to be a bad law and I guess if it doesn't really decrease drunk driving it's kinda pointless but at the same time it seems fair enough to me. After a couple offences you may be crowned the tital of habitual drunkard and if you are caught with a beer after that you can go to jail. These people know they are the literal town drunk and know what can happen to them. If they choose to continue to break the law then I don't feel bad for them.

It's unconstitutional, and they're not continuing to break the law. There's nothing illegal about an adult drinking alcohol. It's kinda like owning a gun; it's what you do with it once you have one. I figured you would have seen it that way.

The vast majority of felons, if not all, can't own guns. Should that be changed too?

That's because you can instantly kill people with a gun. The only way to do that with alcohol is get into a car, and they've got breathalyzer interlocks for that.
