The Holmby Hills section of Bel-Air is around ten miles southwest of Glendale. The average price of a home there is $17 million. It's not the type of neighborhood where anyone would expect somebody to be making and selling guns. The ATF and LAPD issued a statement saying they "have no reason to believe the public is in any danger." The gun maker is already out on bail – so pardon me if I don't believe the ATF and LAPD.

So Hombly Hills is the ritzy section of Bel-Air? As opposed to the regular part of Bel-Air?

Los Angeles Times says it is not illegal for someone to possess a thousand guns as long as he's complying with state and federal firearms laws. Oh yeah, that's comforting to know.

Yes, it is.

My first thought when I read the headline was, "what was he doing illegally?" but then it talked about him making and selling them illegally so it made more sense.

Among the regulations in the states and towns I've lived in:
-can't have more than 3 cars registered to an individual;
-can't brew more than 20 gallons of beer per year;
-can't have more than 3 dogs on your property.

And there are plenty of residences that prohibit everything from fences and tall flags to RVs. You can't bring more than 2 ounces of liquid on a plane in one container. Sharp objects are banned, torch lighters are banned. Many states still ban oral sex, or gay sex.

So the idea that a person who already has several guns should be questioned, checked, or restricted trying to buy many more guns seems perfectly reasonable. There are plenty of weapons an individual is prohibited from buying; so when does the number of legal guns equal the danger of a prohibited weapon?

Of course I immediately recalled this monologue spoken by Rufus T. Firefly (Groucho Marx) to Gloria Teasdale (Margaret Dumont) in Duck Soup:

"Well, that covers a lot of ground. Say, you cover a lot of ground yourself. You'd better beat it. I hear there going to tear you down and put up an office building where you're standing. You can leave in a taxi. If you can't get a taxi, you can leave in a huff. If that's too soon, you can leave in a minute and a huff. You know you haven't stopped talking since I came here? You must have been vaccinated with a phonograph needle."

I usually feel bad for people when they get in a bar fight or something and one punch winds of killing the guy they were fighting with and they face a murder charge. But that's when the people are around the same age. Not in this case. What do you think is going to happen if you shove an elderly guy down the steps of a bus? Oh course he died. I could probably kill my dad with like 1 finger at this point. Gotta be gentle with these living fossils.

That family paid good money for their chairs. Leaving them out in the hot sun to possibly fade is certainly a "tying her to a tree for hours" type offence.

Maid, 26, tied to tree as punishment for leaving furniture outside in the sun

Jokes aside...Umm, is this normal over there? What is this guy doing? Just going about his business while a woman is tied to a tree? Did he fear also being tied to a tree?

Back to jokes...

And clearly the most important part of this whole story, and what makes it WAAAAY worse and inhumane, is that the maid is cute:
