first vinyl album I bought: Van Halen - Women & Children First
first rock concert I attended - Van Halen in 1982
first cassette I bought - Van Halen - 1984 (ended up being one of maybe three cassettes I ever bought)
first CD I bought - Van Halen - 5150 (by this time it was strictly for tradition)
first mp3 I downloaded - Van Halen - You Really Got Me

unfortunately, the first 45 I bought, back in the 70s was some single from the Grease soundtrack. That was before I knew who Van Halen was.

Grease is the word! :D

I think the first one I ever bought with my own money was "Rock and Soul Part I," which was basically Hall and Oates' greatest hits. This was about 1983 or so.

My mom bought me a record player around 1980 or 1981 and bought me Kenny Rogers' greatest hits at the same time.

After buying vinyl albums for a few years, I graduated to 4 Track tape cartridges that lasted 6 months. I had a Muntz 4 track player in my '62 Corvette. 8 Track players soon replaced the old Muntz and I remember having a nice 8 track library before going off to school. My favorite was:

Steppenwolf and favorite songs were "The Pusher" and "Born to be Wild".
