Still way early, but the Nuggets have won 3 out of their last 4 while the Knicks have lost 3 out of 4.

My SIXERS seem to be getting better as the season progresses.

Doug Collins named Eastern Conference Coach of the Month for February - 3/1/2011
Philadelphia, Pa. – March 1, 2011 – Today, the NBA announced that Philadelphia 76ers head coach Doug Collins was named Eastern Conference Coach of the Month for February. Collins becomes the first Sixers coach to receive the award since Larry Brown in March of 2003.

The Sixers compiled a 9-3 mark in February, closing out the month with a season-high four-game winning streak. The .750 winning percentage was the team’s highest in a single month since February of 2003 (.800; 8-2 mark). The Sixers have posted a winning record in each of the past three months, their longest streak since the 2000-01 season.

Five of Philly’s nine wins in February were by double-digits and the Sixers outscored opponents by 8.3 points per game overall. In the final game before All-Star break at Houston on Feb. 16, the Sixers picked up their 27th win of the season, giving them as many as they had in all of 2009-10.

The Sixers were 3-13 at one point this season, but improved to 30-29 following their win at Cleveland on Feb. 27. Dating back to games played on Nov. 27, Philly is tied for the seventh-highest winning percentage of any team in the league (.628; 27-16 mark).

This is the fourth time Collins has earned Coach of the Month honors. He won the award in all three of his previous head coaching stops (November of 1988 with Chicago, February of 1997 with Detroit and December of 2001 with Washington).

I understand that it is early in the big-three's five year run, but they settling in as a team that's better than 2/3rds of the league. Recent losses to the Spurs, Bulls, Knicks, Celtics, Lakers, Jazz, and Magic doesn't provide a lot of momentum for the playoffs. They are being outmatched by teams with more than three good players. Their season(s) will depend on a bunch of guys at minimum contracts since they don't have any draft picks or quite a few years.

Pat Riley should take away Lebron's iPhone. Each twitter that he sends out seems to result in some losses immediately afterward. First the "Karma is a bitch" tweet. Now he is "at WAR!". If WAR is contributing to blowing a 24-point lead late in the game then being beaten by 30 in the next game - he's losing that war.

If Lebron's "decision" would have been Chicago instead of south beach, they would be on a pace to win 70 and positioning for the playoffs.

Looks like a trend is setting up. "King Nothing" drives to the hoop with under 10 seconds left, has the shot changed by Noah, misses with the left hand, complains to the ref as the ball kicks out to the other side. Still flat-footed as Wade's attempt bounces off the rim to a Chicago defender.

The Heat are now 1 and 14 in last second shots at the end of the game to tie or win (two more for the bad side today). They would have a great record if the game was over at halftime.

Spoelstra said the players were crying after the game today. Literally crying

Is it OK for Miami Heat players to cry after loss? - Game On!: Covering the Latest Sports News

:jj::jj::jj::jj::jj::jj::jj:

The Heat lost #5 in a row, at home, against a team not considered one of the power teams. James and Wade put up big numbers (again) but also play big minutes (again). The big minutes will wear them down as the season goes into May. Bosh seemed uninterested (again) and didn't produce. Now he's starting to state his issues with the team in the media.

Ironically, it is the head coach who should be crying instead of letting the world know that some teammates are weeping. Pat Riley has to be somewhere between the front office and the court, walking down a few steps to courtside after each loss and/or media blast. Spoelstra is in it over his head, and can't control the EGOs at the top, broken down vets on the bench, and not much between. Lebron got away with too much in Cleveland on and off the court - but he was "THE MAN" - so most accepted the star treatment, until blasting him for leaving at the end. Spoelstra now has to manage three (maybe 2 1/2) of these big EGOs that think they should have all that they want - all while losing against outrageous expectations.

A bad loss to the Lakers may be the tipping point to make Pat Riley return to the court.

Tiger slowed by his women, now Lebron has his momma

LeBron James' mother arrested at Miami hotel for alleged assault - NBA News | FOX Sports on MSN

It took affairs with the ladies to slow Tiger's dominance over the golf world. Is Lebron's momma a cause for concern in Miami?

It appears that Lebron's mom has impeccable timing for getting into trouble as the NBA season nears the playoffs. In 2006 it was the DUI arrest, officer assault, and kicking out a police car window in their hometown of Akron. Last year, it was the involvement with one of Lebron's teammates (alleged, but a distraction).

Now she is back at it again at a Miami hotel, reportedly drunk, assulting employees, and resisting arrest. He should have left her in Akron at Lebron's palace (north). He has enough pressure trying to live up to ridiculous forecasts for a 70-win season and easy walk to the championship. As the reports gained steam last year during the playoffs about a possible affair, his game went into the opposite direction, finishing with a very lackluster performance in the final game against the Celtics - with his mind obviously elsewhere.

The Fontainebleau Hotel must be a hoppin' place, providing trouble for those with funds. It was also the location where Braylon Edwards and Donte Stallworth drank into the early morning before Donte mowed down a pedestrian on his way to work.
