Going backwards has anyone watched the lord of the rings trio recently?
We usually watch them over the holidays, but I think I'm running out of time this year.
From the title, I would have expected Pottersville to be about some alternate reality without George Bailey.
I thought it was about weed, but realized that it wasn't when I didn't see Seth Rogan in the cast.

Some of the 2021 released movies I've seen:

Don't Look Up - liked, enjoy the satire, great cast

The Power of the Dog - dramatic tension all the way, one of the year's best

Free Guy - very creative, lots of fun

Belfast - very good

Old - started off interesting, didn't enjoy the second half

Old Henry - Yes! If you like a great Western, go out your way to rent this one

Spencer - great acting, but strange lack of coherent plot

Encanto - very good Disney cartoon movie

The Card Counter - excellent

The Matrix Resurrections - probably liked it more than Matrix 2 and 3, not as great obviously as 1

The French Dispatch - so very Wes Anderson, liked it

Being the Ricardos - not Aaron Sorkin's best, but still good

Swan Song - very good

Stillwater - good

King Richard - good

The Hand of God - very good

Barb and Star go to Vista Del Mar - fun

The Mitchells vs the Machines - excellent

Tick, Tick... BOOM - not bad

The Harder They Fall - very good

Finch - meh

Dune (2021) - very well done

Cruella - liked way more than I thought I would

The Tomorrow War - I like Sci-Fi, so I did like this one, but not always great

The Suicide Squad - good

CODA - excellent

Pig - excellent

A Quiet Place II - almost as great as the first one

Summer of Soul - great

No Sudden Move - one of Soderberg's better ones in recent years

In the Heights - good

Damn! You've gotten through a lot of movies this year!

Don't Look Up - liked, enjoy the satire, great cast
I liked it too.
Free Guy - very creative, lots of fun
I wondered about this one. I'll have to look for it.
The Matrix Resurrections - probably liked it more than Matrix 2 and 3, not as great obviously as 1
I thought it was OK, but it didn't like it as much as the original series.
The French Dispatch - so very Wes Anderson, liked it
This one was great, So visually appealing. I think you can count the number of times he pans the camera on one hand. It's all pan and dolly.
Dune (2021) - very well done
I thought so too. It's a drag that the next one is probably 2 years out.
Cruella - liked way more than I thought I would
Same here.
The Tomorrow War - I like Sci-Fi, so I did like this one, but not always great
I thought it was decent.
The Suicide Squad - good
It was a little better than the 1st one, but the 1st one was just OK.
A Quiet Place II - almost as great as the first one
I liked it.
In the Heights - good
I couldn't get through more than 15 minutes or so.

I finally watched "Fast Times at Rigemount High" on Netflix. It's a movie that somehow I missed seeing in the 80s. I now recognize the source of some quotes that have made it into the vernacular that came from this movie. It was ok. About what I expected from it.

I still haven't seen it, and I've been told to watch it a dozen times.
You should have watched it in high school when the rest of us did.
That's one reason I haven't done it. It might be like hearing Winger's debut album for the first time in the 2020s. Sure it was good in '89 but if you didn't hear it back then, what are the odds you're gonna dig it being exposed to it today?

I liked it. Music was great. Some nice tits bouncing around too. Don't expect a deep plot and you will enjoy.

I'm watching this now...like 25 mins in. I'm kinda loving it. But so far I think it's an anti Trump allegory, so I don't love that.

They do a good job of making Leo look like a dork though...not so much with Jennifer, even Hollywood can't make her look un-fox-like.

Amy Schneider just broke $1m in winnings on Jeopardy. She's won like 27 games, 3rd or 4th all-time. She seems to know everything, and has blown away most of the competition. I'm waiting for a strong challenger.

Just saw one on Aaron's list - Being the Ricardos. Definitely has that Aaron Sorkin feel. Nicole Kidman - who seems to be in every show I watch - is better than you might expect. But the award for best casting ever has to go to JK Simmons playing William Frawley aka Fred Mertz. Just perfection.

Top 5 of 2021 for me. And I didn't watch nearly as many movies in 2021 as I have in previous years.

#1 (with a bullet) In The Heights - Man I love this flick. I'm a sucker for musicals (usually Disney) but Lin Manuel musicals stir up the same feelings in me. I'm rewatching this one right now. I probably watched it 12 times in 21 into 22.

all the rest...

#2 The Suicide Squad - my fav superhero movie since Logan...Still doesn't compare to the Dark Knight Trilogy though.

This 2022 one with The Riddler looks REALLY REALLY promising though. Batman is BY FAR my favorite superhero. And Lenny Kravitz' kid will likely do for a younger generation what Michelle Pfeiffer did for me.

#3 Dune - It's a Villeneuve flick. Nothing more needed to be said. He is the second best living director after Nolan. PTA is also in the conversation. I predict this one will rise in my ranks as I rewatch it in the coming years.

#4 A Quiet Place II - Some predictable parts but I really liked it.

#5 Nobody - Wow this was fun. It was like a modern day version of Falling Down...(less racist and homophobic but hit the same beats). Gotta love Bob Odenkirk. From Mr. Show to Breaking Bad to Better Call Saul...not to mention his standup. The man knows the deal.

We’re through with Dexter New Blood.
It was certainly a better resolution than the original ending, but a few things could have improved it.

I give the season a 6 out of 10.

Stay tuned for the spin-off series: Dexter New Blood 2 - The Re-Bloodining.

I'm only 2 eps deep...I'll catch up at some point.

The tables have turned...I saw the OG Dex through and waited for you to catch up...now here I am.

I mean, it kinda makes sense right? In what other industry than Hollywood would a company allow a vocal minority of it's employees to openly speak out poorly about them and walk out of work in protest and still let them keep their jobs? Especially after their first shitty earnings report in years.
