Since the club can't go with "Yeti" or Yetis" because of the cooler company.

I was wondering did the Red Wings Shoe company created the hockey club Detroit Red Wings, this is what I got from google.

Red Wing Shoes and the Detroit Red Wings hockey team are linked through the shared use of the "winged wheel" imagery in their logos and a historical connection to the city of Red Wing, Minnesota.

Explanation:
  • The Detroit Red Wings' logo features a "winged wheel," directly inspired by the Montreal Amateur Athletic Association's Winged Wheelers, the first team to win the Stanley Cup. This logo has become iconic for the hockey team.

  • The city of Red Wing, Minnesota, is also known for Red Wing Shoes, a company that has used a winged wheel design in its logo since its founding. The company's logo and the city's name are rooted in the local Native American legend of a leader named Red Wing.

  • While there's no direct connection between the shoe company and the hockey team's logo development, the shared use of the "winged wheel" and the historical connection to Red Wing, Minnesota, creates a point of association.

  • The Detroit Red Wings' name and logo were adopted by the team to honor the Winged Wheelers and their hockey legacy, not directly inspired by the shoe company.
In essence, the similarity lies in the shared use of the "winged wheel" imagery, which connects the Red Wings hockey team to the city of Red Wing and, indirectly, to the Red Wing Shoe Company.

So, there is no major connection beside the "winged wheel".

Also, if you think of Stanley cup and google it mainly the drinkware company shows up, they were created in 1915. But the NHL Stanley Cup was awarded in 1893 and that was around first. Somehow the Stanley drinkware company got away with it.

I think the Utah Hockey Club should allow to use the name Utah Yetis, I wouldn't get confused by it. But every day joes will probably think of the cooler company created the hockey club.
Thanks Wolfipedia!

I had often wondered, but never managed to look that up.

The logos have been revealed.

I still like the Outlaw name, but the logo looks dumb.

Hockey club still sounds dumb, but it could grow on me. The logo looks great and it a work around with the Yeti name. Fans could still call them Yetis, but they are not officially call Yeti. Personally the colors fits with the yeti head.

Mammoth probably the strongest name. the logo could been worked on better.

Hold on that fucking cooler company has the trademark for the term Yeti like the version of Sasquatch that lives in the snow?

That's not cool.

Cuz yeah, Yetis is a fucking cool name for a hockey team.

The Kraken is kind of the coolest name ever though. I mean besides loving America and being the Eagles, but after that The Kraken is really freaking cool.

My son said these logos came straight from EA Games "Build Your Team" mode of one of his NHL games meaning the logos are licensed to EA Games.

In what timeline are we living in that the generic “Hockey Club” name is a top 3 choice
At least they didn't pick Hockey McHockey face or something like that. Although in the Premier League a team like Liverpool is called Liverpool FC (Football Club) although also maintains the nickname the Reds.
