On Saturday night, HBO premiered the 2 part documentary "Wise Guy David Chase and The Sopranos", which I thought was excellent. If you loved The Sopranos, you'll find this to be very interesting. Lots of behind-the-scenes stuff, including auditions for all the main cast members. They showed the many people who didn't get picked, and how Chase came across Steven van Zandt.
I did feel somewhat sad by the end, as they spent some time talking about the physical and emotional demands on James Gandolfini, and how that likely (IMO) contributed to his eventual downward spiral.
