The strings on I Don't Want To Miss A Thing were arranged by Suzie Katayama. She plays cello and accordion – not at the same time, of course – and has played and/or conducted the orchestra on the soundtracks of Finding Nemo, Ratatouille, Dreamgirls, Purple Rain, All The Pretty Horses, all three Austin Powers movies and many other films and television series. Katayama leads her own group, the Suzie Katayama String Quartet, and frequently plays cello with the Hollywood Bowl Orchestra.

Written before Appetite For Destruction came out. Their manager (at the time) was (later) asked his favorite songs from Use Your Illusion 1 and 2:

"Dust and Bones," first and foremost. "Civil War" – I thought that one indicated a real development in Axl’s writing. "14 Years." The three holdovers from Appetite for Destruction – "Don’t Cry," "You Could Be Mine," and "November Rain."

Everybody Plays The Fool was a remake of a song by the Main Ingredient which reached #2 on the R&B chart and #3 on the Hot 100 in October 1972. Former Drifters lead singer Ben E. King, whose solo hits include Stand By Me, Spanish Harlem and Supernatural Thing, recorded Everybody Plays The Fool with a choir that included R&B duo Ashford & Simpson for his 1976 album I Had A Love:

Someone else thinks as I do. I was never a big fan of his original but this one is far worse. Still gets played alot. Annoying. Not a channel changer like the sheriff shooting one.

A lot of talented performers, such as Steely Dan, Michael McDonald, Tori Amos etc. have the ability to re-imagine their music (and the music of others). What Clapton did was no different than Nirvana or Alice in Chains. I like them all.

I like both versions of Layla. Here, for your amazement and amusement, is an article from Radio X, a British radio station that plays alternative and indie rock:

That's a good list, although the acoustic version of Foo Fighters' "Times Like These" is the absolute best.
