Patriotic Millionaires – a group of wealthy Americans pushing for higher taxes

Is CNN now using the Onion as a source? Can this be real?
Not everybody is Elon Musk. I've heard of quite a few who want the rich to pay higher taxes, even those among the rich.

Vacationland
I'm just finding this to be so mind-blowing, I have to share. We were looking at going back to Mexico (the same hotel on the Riviera Maya) for the same time next year (end of January); but the package price would be significantly higher - another $1,500 over the $3,500 we paid for this past January (thanks, Biden). So I started looking around elsewhere for deals. The caveat is that Mrs. Scotch won't book a trip package through any 3rd party site, such as Expedia. That's because her sister works for Delta, so she knows that people get screwed left and right if there are problems with the flight, when a 3rd party is involved.

So I was using the Delta Vacations site to shop around, and of course I don't like change, so I decided to look at the other familiar place we go to - Turks & Caicos. The Delta site had a limited list of hotels they pair with in T&C. But as I'm perusing the list, something wild pops out at me. Among all the $3k - $5k per-person packages, was one of the top hotels on Grace Bay beach; in fact, one of the top hotels in the Caribbean. The Seven Stars resort (right next to where we usually stay) was showing a per-person price of $1,233! I kept refreshing the page, and starting the search over, but it was still there. For a sanity check, I went onto Expedia, and looked at their list of hotels in T&C. The Seven Stars was showing at its expected price - substantially more than the place we normally stay at, and in-line with other top hotels.

I couldn't explain it, but I also couldn't ignore it. I showed it to Mrs. Scotch, and while she also couldn't rationalize it, she said we had to give it a try. She figured it was some sort of glitch, and when you tried to book it, you wouldn't be able to. And at first, that was looking like the situation. The garden-view room that was part of the package price was unavailable. At that point, we nearly gave up. But then I tried the option for the oceanfront suite, which was only like $50 per-person more for the week, and it worked! All our selections went through, and the credit card payment processed, giving us a confirmed reservation. The trip was booked!

But I'm still perplexed by the whole thing, and I keep checking what other sites are showing. Today, I found that even Delta Vacations doesn't have that deal anymore. And it's only been 3 weeks since we booked. Here's our confirmation, and I've compared it to the current Expedia deal as well as Delta Vacations.

Our booking (our total price includes travel insurance for around $300)

Here's the current price on Delta Vacations (same hotel, same room, same flights)

And here's the greatly discounted deal on Expedia

Pretty crazy, eh? It looks like we'll be the only poor people in that hotel.
