Today I bought a big package of frozen butterfly shrimp at the market. There are three ways to cook the shrimp. Here is the first instruction for each metho::

Oven: Preheat oven to 450°F.
Pan fry: Preheat ½ inch of cooking oil in skillet to 350°F.
Deep fry: Preheat cooking oil to 350°F.

Fortunately I was able to figure out that "preheat" means "heat."

"Rizz" is Just. Plain. Dumb. Here is another – dare I say it? – crummy new expression:

Haha, right in the article, they use the term "Stringing a person along" to try to explain this stupid new word; basically proving that there's already a phrase to name the situation, and no need for a stupid new one. And besides, I had heard the term and assumed it referred to leaving breadcrumbs along a trail to find your way back. But perhaps it had an analogous use. And now I know it has nothing to do with that. It's just a stupid term.

I was a late adopter of cell phones. Mrs. Scotch had them for years before convincing me to get one. I'd say "Why do I need a cell phone? I'm either at home, or at work, or driving from one to the other. And I can't answer a phone while I'm shifting". When I finally did get a cell phone, I only wanted 2 things: I wanted it to be small, and I wanted one that had the external display showing time and missed calls. The first couple of phones I had were like this, with a color screen inside, and a monochrome LCD display outside.

The outside display used very little energy, but it was always on. On my later flip phones, of course they fucked it up and put a color display on the outside too; one that you had to activate to see.

So now I'm happy that they put an "Always On Display" on the Samsung Galaxy phones. But of course, they have to fuck this up too.

It would seem that - by definition - an "Always On" display would be on at all times. But now they have options to make the display not always on.

While everyone was using flip phones and prefered calling to texting because it was so hard to do on them, my wife and I had small cellular texting devices.

Then when everyone started using cell phones with full keyboards on them like the Blackberry, we switched to flip phones (pay as you go, cheap ones).

Yesterday in an "Accelerating the Arches" strategic plan shared with investors, McDonald's announced plans to begin testing larger hamburgers in select locations – or, as CEO Chris Kempczinski put it, "piloting a new large burger equity." Golly gee, I can hardly wait to go to McDonald's and order a "large burger equity."

The people who dedicate their careers to marketing shitty fast food like to pretend they're splitting the atom. It helps them to suspend reality.
