Denon is all price and no product. I don't understand. Maybe back in the day they were good but in the past 15years I've tried many times to get into Denon products but they always have some problem that renders the product useless or close to it.
New they were ridiculously priced ($700 I think).
Used on eBay at $100-200 isn't bad, though.
You're right in that they come up short on:
- internet connection (it's stupid that you have to kind of keep an eye on it)
- the whole 'Internet Radio' deal - you have to go to a 3rd party site and it looks like it was done around 2002. Who knows how long it'll be up.
That being said I really like that it's all integrated. XM, AM, FM, HDRadio, CD (never use it), Aux In, Internet Streaming, DLNA - I can stream from my Mini some random tracks or parse through my library. If I like I can use the Aux-In with Apple Airport Express to fill my home with music.
Still, at most this product, new, should have been $300. They should have released another update to fix the DHCP issue.
What's weird is that there's no other product, even today, that truly competes with it. Try to find something that has all that I mentioned above built into it. I haven't found one. At best, and it's not a bad option, you have Grace or Squeezebox. They come up short on a number of things, though.
