Jimmy Webb wrote Highwayman and recorded it for his 1977 album El Mirage. George Martin was the producer, arranger and conductor. Webb also penned Galveston, Wichita Lineman, By The Time I Get To Phoenix, All I Know, MacArthur Park, Up Up & Away, The Worst That Could Happen and The Moon Is A Harsh Mistress and he has never forgiven Richard Harris for singing "MacArthur's Park" instead of "MacArthur Park." Highwayman became a number-one country hit for Waylon, Willie, Johnny & Kris in August 1985.
