I'm not the only country music fan complaining that SiriusXM's Top 1000 ignored hundreds of number-one hits by major artists of the 1940s-50s-60s-70s and included way too many songs from the 2000s and 2010s. KRIS-Channel 6 in Corpus Christi acknowledges the confusing country classics compilation consternation:

Jimmy Webb wrote Highwayman and recorded it for his 1977 album El Mirage. George Martin was the producer, arranger and conductor. Webb also penned Galveston, Wichita Lineman, By The Time I Get To Phoenix, All I Know, MacArthur Park, Up Up & Away, The Worst That Could Happen and The Moon Is A Harsh Mistress and he has never forgiven Richard Harris for singing "MacArthur's Park" instead of "MacArthur Park." Highwayman became a number-one country hit for Waylon, Willie, Johnny & Kris in August 1985. Here is Glen Campbell's version, recorded in 1978 and released in October 1979 as the title track of an album:

Walter Brennan released 12 singles between 1960 and 1970. Old Rivers, which featured the Johnny Mann Singers, reached #5 on both the Hot 100 and the country chart but was not on this Top 1000 Classic Country Countdown. He had three other Hot 100 hits: Dutchman's Gold, Houdini and a remake of Bill Anderson's Mama Sang A Song. Brennan's final recording was a remake of Roy Clark's Yesterday When I Was Young.
