What's your preferred format and bitrate for ripping music? I recently purchased a car with Sync, so I bought a 32GB flash drive to rip and load most (if not all) of my CDs to. However, I'm torn between what the best format and bitrate is that offers a good balance between sound quality and the ability to fit a lot of music on the drive.

Since I use iTunes, I go with 256kbps VBR AAC

Yes I love the ACC codec as I think it sounds better than MP3 or WMA, but that is my opinion and everyone will have a different opinion on that. The one bad part on the ACC codec though is that since it doesn't seem to compress as much as others, the files are usually larger when done.

224 AAC no VBR for me. I went through quite a few bitrates auditioning Pink Floyd - Wish You Were Here on my Denon/Definitive Tech setup. 224kbps was almost indistinguishable from the original, and sounds identical on my car stereo and the earbuds.
