How does your state work?

It's pretty common for a lot of construction workers around here to take off for the first day of deer season for rifles and bow-hunting, but it's not like a holiday or anything.

Biggest thing around here is the Stock Show, no one gets the day off (That I'm aware of), but there's a big parade of steer and horses through the middle of downtown. If one of the teams wins the championship like the Nuggets that might do it, course there's an equal chance you'll get shot too.

Where I used to live - in NH on the Mass border - there was a Saturday around the beginning of spring called "Tractor Day". And all the new farm equipment was out along the main strip (Rt. 125). The roads were always clogged with pickup trucks.

Up here in Maine we have Maine Maple Sunday weekend, on the first spring weekend in March. All the maple sugar shacks are open, and some of the places are cooking food over a wood fire, or serving ice cream with maple syrup.

One twenty fuckin' five is bad enough on a regular day. I had an apartment right on 125 just above the Lee traffic circle back in 1993. I can't imagine the shitshow this event was!

For Scotch. Not specific to a state, but the region.

Looks like the Boston Marathon concluded without a hitch. Happy Patriots Day everybody! It's certainly a weird one, with some things open and some closed. But we get an extra day to file our taxes.

I just noticed that this guy was the Grand Marshall

Every day I Google Earth some place on Earth, street view it if possible in a few random places.

Today’s place, Rhode Island. So I read that the biggest island of the bunch gave it the name Rhode Island, but people call it Aquidneck. Interesting.

I like how there’s enough bridges to get from mainland to mainland on the southern end.

All those island and coastal towns must be expensive property I imagine?

Freda Felcher?? From Cranston??

Before I got my job in IT, I drove a vending route to convenience stores (sandwiches). My first route was Rhode Island, home of the coffee milk. If my memory serves me right, the state was created as a place to dump criminals and misfits. In the 90s, it didn't seem like it had changed much.

Scotch! Looks like there's something extra in your election that the other states will not be deciding. And yes, it has a twist ending...

OPTIONAL VIDEO TO WATCH FIRST (if you want to understand some of the references made in the new video)

HERE'S THE IMPORTANT NEW VIDEO (whether you watch the other one first or not)

Yes, we thought they were going to just change the flag (like they did with the license plate), but we have to vote on the flag.

I was talking to a buddy about how far in advance you have to register to vote in Florida and I knew it wasn't same day in this state but I didn't know how far out. So I asked Gemini How far in advance do I have to register to vote in Florida?... And the interesting thing is Gemini wouldn't answer. I figured it would answer like factual political questions that have nothing to do with opinions or candidates but it plays it super safe and wouldn't even answer that.

I'm registered to vote by the way, I always make sure of it, but it turns out my buddy had to have registered by October 7th.

That pine with a star is the original flag of Maine? But the video said it was from 1901... So Maine didn't have any state flag before 1901. That seems weird.

Anyway, I wasn't a huge fan of the pine until they said it was the OG flag. I would totally vote for that one. It would be cool to go back. Kind of like how the Eagles are playing in Kelly Green against the jags this week. Hah.
