As the storm makes its closest pass through New England, it will bring more tropical air with it, leading to a rise in the humidity.

Oh goody, just what I wanted. More humidity.

You guys I’m preparing to “hunker down”.
Windows are mostly boarded up. Food and alcohol are in stock. Forecast to be a category 1 maybe 2, and we’re not in the direct path but very well might be before landfall.

Cue “Riders on the Storm”

Here in Cape Coral and it looks like we'll get winds with gusts up to 60.

No evacuation in effect. I wouldn't anyway, no way I could get my father any further from his bed toilet or couch than about five feet for two reasons: he wouldn't and I can't. I cleared the furniture and stacked it in a spot where the wind hopefully won't grab it and toss it around

The Weather Channel was just showing footage from Cape Coral, looking rough out there, water already over some roads.

My dad says they've never had flooding on their street (even during Ian) so that's good. But we did get our first power blink-on-and-off an hour ago. Real windy but not wet.

I get weather updates every 5-10 minutes that last about 3 minutes. Because my dad keeps flipping between Game Show Network and the news, randomly, like not "oh a commercial I'll switch to the news". More like "the offer is 180,000. So its it deal or no" *CLICK* "...berty liberty, liberty. Have you been injured.... (two minutes later) You can see here in Punta Gorda that people are really hunkering..." *CLICK* "....and thanks for watching Deal Or No Deal. *applause*"

Sounds like he's all ready to transition to TikTok.

What’s weird about this hurricane is how early they called it. 8 or 9 days ago I was watching on the radar future cast how they expected a possible major hurricane in the panhandle or western coast of Florida. That was before it was anything at all. Sure enough.
