Ok so here's the story...No one has ever "beaten" NES Tetris. Apparently when you get to a high enough level the old code for the game cant keep up and just glitches out. This 13 year old boy did it. It's kinda a big deal. I mean I think e-sports are dumb....even dumber than calling chess a sport but I can acknowledge how this was a big accomplishment.

ALSO IT WAS DONE BY A CHILD! HE'S 13.

This British chick decided it was a good idea to shit on him with her editorial.

Not a great look.

So my old roomie's fam is from Ecuador. I called him about it. Apparently that country is rough. He told me his cousin and his wife are upper middle class, a businessman and a gp at a hospital. They live in a gated community with armed guards but they still can't really go out at night...like how we would go to Wawa or whatever on a whim at 3 am. They seriously worry about not making it home alive if they do that.

I know his family story is anecdotal but it doesn't seem great over there.

Also these ppl who took over the TV station are a random gang. They have many random gangs causing problems and they aren't affiliated with each other. We got to talking about that. I can understand if a giant group wants to rise up and wage a coup but that's not what this is. According to him it's a bunch of different street gangs mad at each other. And they don't have a National Guard like we do. When this goes down over there they can arrest the really bad ones but most can just keep on wreaking havoc.

20th century: Britain takes it in 1920s, creates Jewish state in 1940s.
During World War I, it was captured by the United Kingdom as part of the Sinai and Palestine campaign. The League of Nations gave Britain mandatory power over Palestine in 1922. British colonial rule and Arab efforts to prevent Jewish migration into Palestine led to growing sectarian violence between Arabs and Jews, eventually causing the British government to announce its intention to terminate the Mandate in 1947. The United Nations General Assembly recommended partitioning Palestine into two states; one Arab and one Jewish. However, the situation in Palestine had deteriorated into a civil war between Arabs and Jews. The Arabs rejected the Partition Plan, the Jews ostensibly accepted it, declaring the independence of the State of Israel in May 1948 upon the termination of the British mandate. Nearby Arab countries invaded Palestine, but Israel not only prevailed but also conquered far more territory of the Mandate than envisioned by the Partition Plan. After the war, only two parts of Palestine remained in Arab control: the West Bank (and East-Jerusalem), annexed by Jordan, and the Gaza Strip (occupied by Egypt), which were conquered by Israel during the Six-Day War in 1967. Despite international objections, Israel started to establish settlements in these occupied territories.
