Following our report earlier this month that Apple was preparing to deliver a bug fix in an upcoming iOS 7.1.1 update, today the update is going live as an over-the-air update for iOS users. Apple’s release notes say the update includes “improvements, bug fixes and security updates” including enhancements to Touch ID fingerprint recognition and fixes for keyboard responsiveness and Bluetooth keyboards used with VoiceOver:

This update contains improvements, bug fixes and security updates, including:

    • Further improvements to Touch ID fingerprint recognition
    • Fixes a bug that could impact keyboard responsiveness
    • Fixes an issue when using Bluetooth keyboards with VoiceOver enabled
    • For information on the security content of this update, please visit this website:
The update, iOS 7.1.1 (Build 11D201), is available now for iPad 2 or later, iPhone 4 or later, and fifth-gen iPod touch through Software Update in Settings.

I notice a significant difference in battery life, by this time in the day I'd be around 80-85 percent even with limited usage. I'm now around 93 percent.

I have noticed mine is worse. About 10% worse on a normal day. Not bad today but am home on wifi.

let's see if the auto carrier switch works better. Before 7.1 it was seamless but since then I regretted going to 7.1.

2:15pm and I'm at 77 percent. I've been listening to music for about 20 minutes now and no noticeable drop.

I unplugged at 7am when I got up. At 7pm I was still at 80 percent. Battery life has gone from good to phenomenal.
