I am having another weird issue. A lot of my alerts are not coming to my new phone. I noticed when I powered up my old phone and it was still getting alerts yet my new phone was not. All the alert settings seem to be in order and identical between my phones. I am getting some alerts on my new phone just not all. I am missing most of my news and sports alerts.

I may be wrong on this, but some time ago I was missing out on notifications too and went into each app under notifications and turned off notification grouping.
With grouping on it was holding certain notifications until there were several of them and sending a bunch at once. I’d prefer to get them in real time.

Not an iPhone issue, but I just figured out what's been waking me up at 5 am with a text-like notification. On the notification bar, there's a symbol like a briefcase, and it tells me I have app updates available (to be clear, I don't give a flying fuck about this). When I click on "Notification Settings/Recent", it doesn't come up with anything related to what I just got. But when I click on the notification itself, it takes me to the "Galaxy Store" - not the Google Play store. I never heard of the Galaxy store, or why it exists. (Apparently, some of the apps for my phone come from here). Anyway, deep in the settings is the notifications preferences. I turn everything off. But I don't understand why it doesn't come up in my general list of notifications.

Another weird quirk. My watch is now showing me the weather from Ottawa. It is not one of the options and seems to refuse to sync with the app on my phone.

I called Apple Support. We tried a lot of stuff and they eventually fixed both issues. The watch kind of fixed itself between suggestions. It was quite weird as Ottawa was not one of the cities chosen. I did learn how to reboot my watch. I also found out my weather app did not have location services enabled (wasn't on old phone either). Found out with it enabled it allows me to set "Currrent Location" which will follow me around. Didn't fix the issue but still cool.

Yes it will always show me current location in addition to saved places.
I max it out with saved places that I’ve been to or want to go to, and like to check how the weather is there

That's usually on the first/default screen if you have it right.

I'm still sitting on the iPhone 14 plus, but hope to get the 16 before summer. That camera is going to be a huge upgrade over my current one.

If you are waiting til summer anyways, may as well wait for the 17 in the fall.

Something to pass on in case anyone finds it helpful. Someone here at work said they couldn't send photos from their iPhone16 to Android phones. After an hour on the phone with Verizon, then a half hour with Apple, this is what fixed it:

Settings -> General -> Transfer or Reset iPhone -> Reset - > Reset Network Settings

If that doesn't work, you can always do what Tim Cook (head of Apple) said:

In 2022, Apple’s CEO Tim Cook was asked whether Apple would fix iPhone-to-Android messaging. ‘It’s tough,’ the questioner implored Mr. Cook, ‘not to make it personal but I can’t send my mom certain videos.’ Mr. Cook’s response? ‘Buy your mom an iPhone.’

I'm hoping it's a lot sooner, but it's kind of shaping up that way. If it does I'll just wait, the 14 isn't horrible (maybe the camera isn't what it is today, but everything else is serviceable.)

I upgraded from the 11 this year. Probably will upgrade in another 5 years again.

That was kinda the plan for me, but I had to upgrade from the 11 to the 14 because the 11 died. And even the 14 plus isn't that good.

I currently have the 15 Pro Max, and I might upgrade to the 17. I have been seeing the possibility of redesigning the camera design. Plus, I want to ditch the current carrier I have AT&T and either go with T-Mobile or Verizon.
