When we came through Louisiana for our honeymoon in August 2000, we found these bugs which were some sort of flying beetle. We called then sex bugs since they seemed to spend their whole life intertwined in the air with a mate. They stuck to the bumper of our car and no matter how many times we washed the dam thing, some reminents of them remained.
Sounds like Japanese beetles. They are all over the trees in Northern New Jersey. They have shiny red shells, they fly, and they stack atop one another.

We get an onslaught of Lovebugs for a couple weeks in Spring and a couple weeks in August or September. They're harmless except to the paint on your vehicle.

Those things are not harmless here. Well I don't get them in south FL but they go nuts in Central FL. I think I talked abt this b4 but on my way to Disney one year during their season they were so bad I had to pull over. Wipers and fluid are nowhere near enough to clean them off a windshield. So I pulled over and had to scrape them off the a towel and a whole bottle of fluid I had in the trunk or I would have crashed due to 0 visibility. Then I put the stuff back in the trunk and on my second day at Disney I got in the car and it stunk. Took me like a hour to figure out it was the towel with a million dead lovebugs on it baking in my car that was the source of the stench.

I've talked about our trail camera before; we got it to see the house being built. And since then, we've thought of interesting places to mount it, and let it do its thing. For a while, it was monitoring the comings-and-goings on our driveway - including my 2 ambulance trips to the hospital. But since spring of last year, it's been mounted in a wooded area of our property. I kind-of forgot about it, and then yesterday, I went out there and found it. The retaining strap broke, so it came off the tree it was fastened to, and was sitting on the ground getting wet. But it took pictures through this past June. This was the most surprising one

When our dog Talia jumps on our bed at night, she consistently steps on the big OK button on the TV remote.
The Mrs' old cat used to step on the remotes sitting on the coffee table during the day.
Once and a while we'd come home with the TV on. Sometimes it would be on a different station and the volume would be turned up.
We got in the habit of pointing the remotes away from the TV when we'd leave the house in the morning.
The cat's been dead for 10 years or so, and we still are in the habit of pointing the remotes away when we turn the TV off.
