My hatred of the Yankees stretches back to the 70's, & those playoff matches with my Royals. So it's deep.

I know a lotta people hate the Dodgers because of the whole money thing. And I wish the difference between the "haves" & "have less"-es was smaller. But at least the Dodgers spend their riches wisely. The Yankees are the proverbial rich kid who inherited everything, but think they got their through their own hard work & genius. The old "born on 3rd base, thinking they hit a triple" cliche, as appropriate as it might be.
My hatred of the Dodgers goes back to 1981 and Rick Monday's deciding HR against the Montreal Expos. The overspending on the world's most famous gambler just adds to it.

Ohtani is not a gambler, IRBS – but he is definitely overpaid!

I'm watching game 1 of the World Series (World???) and the sloppy announcing is making me cringe: "Runnin'." "Hittin'." "Throwin' a breakin' ball." "Ya got the heart of the Dodgers order comin' up." "Ya got Cole pitchin' for the team growin' up he dreamed of pitchin' for." "Nobody's gonna tell you what he's feelin' like." "Hernandez, 33 home runs durin' the regular season, includin' a couple against the Yankees in June."

The more I hear Joe Davis and John Smoltz, the more I miss Vin Scully, Curt Gowdy and Tim McCarver.

Gee, you'd think that in a sport where everyone's spitting every 3 seconds and grabbing their crotch, the commentating would be more highbrow.

Kirk Gibson's 9th-inning home run on a 3-2 count in game one of the 1988 Dodgers-A's World Series has always been my favorite game-winning home run – until tonight. Now it's in a tie with Freddie Freeman's grand slam. Sixty-three percent of the teams that win the first game of a World Series go on to win the Series. Go, Dodgers!

The Dodgers beat the Yankees 4-2 in World Series game 3 tonight and are one win away from a championship. The odds are against the Yankees. Of the three sports that have a best-of-seven championship series – MLB, NBA, NHL – only one team has ever won a championship after losiing the first three games. The Toronto Maple Leafs won the 1942 Stanley Cup after losing their first three games against the Detroit Red Wings.

Didn't the Red Sox do it in 2004 or something like that against the Yankees?

The Dodgers' Freddie Freeman has set a major league record for hitting a home run in six consecutive World Series games. Tonight he hit a two-run home run in the first inning of World Series game 4. He has homered in each of the four games. While with the Braves in 2021, he homered in the final two World Series games against the Astros. The Braves won that Series, four games to two.

And, oh yeah, the Yankees beat the Dodgers tonight, 11-4. Game 5 begins at 8:08 PM Eastern time October 30.

The Dodgers are the 2024 World Series champions after beating the Yankees 7-6 tonight in game 5. Shohei Ohtani was a major disappointment. He had only two hits in the five games. In game 5, he struck out with the bases loaded. He wasn't the only disappointment, though. In games 4 and 5, the Dodgers had a span of 27 at-bats without a hit. But they.....are the champions, my friend.

I predict that someday a pitcher, first baseman or outfielder will be given a billion-dollar contract – and baseball fans will pay the price, literally. We will go to a game and pay $400 for parking, then buy a $75 hot dog and a $50 Coca-Cola and watch him earn a million dollars for every at-bat.

Mets just signed Juan Soto to biggest contract in sports history, 15 years and $765 million. He will make $51 million per season.

I find this kind of ironic. Growing up in the NYC metro area, you had the Yankees fans and the Mets fans, and each hated the other. The Mets fans said the Yankees were just buying championships. And now, that's what the Mets are doing.

Their new-ish owner is a multi-billionaire, so at least he's acting like it. The Yankees cry poor, which is fucking ridiculous.
