If someone opens a pop can at work, I'll call out "Cold beer! Tiiiiiger baseball......."

I'll randomly tell people at work "Love ya! Bye bye!!!!" in a high voice when they leave or a meeting ends.
It's from the Animaniacs.

Most of my conversations have one or two movie or TV quotes that people don't get.

I don't know the first one.

But I use the Animaniacs one too. "Ok love ya bye bye!"

More I use from Animaniacs:

When someone says "what are we gonna do" I'll say "The same thing we do every day Pinky, try to take over the world"

When the response to something is gonna be inappropriate I'll say, "Good night everybody!"

Sometimes when I see a beautiful girl, in my head I'll say "Hello nurse!"

I don't know the first one.
It’s even more obscure. It was from an old coworker I worked with in the 90s.
He said it a lot and I picked up.

Now when someone opens a soda at work and I don’t say it, people miss it.
When someone says "what are we gonna do" I'll say "The same thing we do every day Pinky, try to take over the world"

Sometimes when I see a beautiful girl, in my head I'll say "Hello nurse!"
I use those too.

I have a hundred of these. I've mentioned that from about 1984-1995, my friends and I pretended we had a pirate radio station and did fake interviews (Boy George, Michael Jackson, Chuck Norris) and song parodies (Beat It = Beat Off, Insane In The Brain = Steroids In The Veins) and fake commercials (Crazy Eddie's Drug Store, a whorehouse named The Pussy Stampede) and tv shows (Brady Bunch, Inspector Gadget) and movies (Star Wars, Indiana Jones)...

Anyway, one of my buddies and I still reference a lot of stuff from those tapes. But only the 7 or 8 of us who made them would have any idea what we're talking about.

In the 1987-90 DuckTales animated series, Scrooge McDuck occasionally exclaimed "Cushlamachree!" I assumed it was the Scottish equivalent of "Good grief! or "Oh my gosh!" – so naturally I started using the word. And then I consulted Merriam-Webster:

"Cushlamachree is an adaptation of the Irish Gaelic cuisle mo chroidhe, literally, 'vein of my heart.' It's a lovely, poetic way to refer to your sweethear – and, indeed, in shows up mostly in Irish folk songs and poetry."

So "cushlamachree" is the equivalent of "darling." I quit saying it. But I still use Huey, Dewey & Louie's expression of surprise or amazement: "Quackaroonies!"

When you repost it shows up as a new post alert and wastes my time re-reading it. Or was I pre-reading it the first time? Either way a waste of time.

Yesterday – Go look! – I edited a post about Labi Siffre. Today at the bottom of the post is "Last edited: Yesterday at 2:59 PM." Usually if I want to edit something, I copy the post, delete it, hit "Reply" and "Paste," make corrections or additions and then re-post it. I don't like seeing "Last edited" on my posts because it makes me look like a dum-dum. I will strive to make sure what I write is error-free, and worded exactly the way I want it, before I post anything.

Of course I'm not necessarily the striver I used to be, but.......

This doesn't count as a phrase that is colloquial but it's more like a general state of being for me.

When I moved to South Florida from the Northeast, there was a distinct difference in the efficiency in which people did their jobs. And I'm not saying one is better or worse than the other because they're both working hard.... But in the Northeast it's no nonsense. I order a hoagie I get a hoagie and if I'm going to ask for some bullshit they're going to bitch at me about like making special requests and all that as a joke but they get it done quick. When I got down to Florida it was a much slower paced lifestyle that took some time to adjust to. Like if I ordered a hoagie and I didn't want onions the lady would ask me like oh so you don't like onions, why not? And then it would be like a fucking discussion.

That kind of stuff still kind of happens to this day.

"Oh, so you don't like onions?"

Los Angeles disc jockeys Bob Hudson and Dave Hull recorded a live comedy album in 1978 as "Hudson & Judson." One of the tracks on Who's On First – yes, the album includes the Abbott & Costello routine – is Take The Gum. I wish the sketch was on YouTube. It isn't. Hudson and Judson are riding on a subway. Hudson asks Judson if he'd like a stick of gum. Judson says "No thanks." Hudson asks, "What's the matter? Don't you like gum?" "I didn't say that," Judson replies. "I just don't want a stick of gum." Hudson starts lecturing him: If everyone is like you and people don't chew gum, the gum manufacturers will be out of work and their families will starve, et cetera. The sketch ends with Judson yelling, "All right, I'll take a stick of your #@*£¥$@φжin' gum!"

A new DuckTales series aired from 2017 to 2021. In the "Let's Get Dangerous" episode – which features Darkwing Duck – Louie asks (at the 40:40 mark), "What does 'quackaroonie' even mean?" Nobody answers him. Quackaroonies!

IRBS, do you have Disney+? The streaming service has been available in Canada since November 1, 2023, and includes all the 2017-20 DuckTales episodes and many Canadian movies and TV series that are not available on Disney+ in the United States.
