For several years now my desktop computer has been dying. Lots of random blue screens. Last December I used my Christmas bonus for a replacement. I debated about getting another PC but the guy I used to buy PCs from folded his business during covid which meant I would be buying retail and haven't been that impressed with the choices. I also was not impressed with Windows 11 and I would be stuck with that with a new computer. I also was getting less enamoured with the idea of a desktop computer.
I talked to a couple of work friends who used Macs (they used MacBook Airs) and they liked them. They did warn me that it would take some getting used to as things are different (just for the sake of being different in some cases). So I elected to buy a MacBook. But I looked at the options and my needs and wants and went with a MacBook Pro. Had more connections and was not significantly heavier than the Air although it was some.
So I have been moving stuff over from the old PC to the Mac over the last months. Everything is basically over here except for iTunes. I have to figure out how to set it up on my Mac. I fortunately did get the music moved over because Friday afternoon, my old computer effectively died. I think the hard disk experienced massive corruption.
So now I am on my mac full time.
I have gotten used to the X being on the left rather than the right. I have accepted that even though there is a control key the familiar shortcuts use the command key. I like the > labelled delete key. I did buy the magic mouse and magic keyboard. With the mac keyboard with no keypad and more cramped keys I would not have been happy. I love the integration with all my other apple items. I like that behind the OS is a UNIX style OS. I did also get a dock which allows me to plug in USB type connectors and headphones.
I love the portability of it. I got a laptop bag from Amazon and I can fit it in there. I used that as my carryon on my trip to Saskatoon. Having my computer available there was also great.
I did check out stuff I ran on my PC and everything should have been compatable. Steam said it was and the platform itself is. However, the games I bought were not. When I look at them on the PC they say nothing. When I look at them on the Mac they say PC only. Now that my PC is dead, I will miss the games -- Clue in particular.

Clue is available only for PC and for iOS and Android phones – and of course as a board game. You may have to buy the board game.

I believe the murder was commited by IRBS with a Mac in the plane on the way to Saskatoon. :D

I believe it's other way around. From what I've seen over the last few decades, Micro$oft rips off Apple. Apple does it first, then M$ copies it and makes it slightly different. So if anyone's doing something for the sake of being different it's Mr Gates & crew.
So I elected to buy a MacBook.

I thought iTunes was discontinued years ago. Never use DRM. Go with MP3.

iTunes did all my mp3 management/playlists on the PC. I see various pieces of what used to be iTunes on the mac and I think the playlist management is under "Apple Music" but haven't figured it out yet. Will call Apple support and let them guide me. Have to call them anyways as I found out last night that my mac is "not authorized". Think the proper way to move it would be to login to my PC and deauthorize it from there. Since that is no longer possible, will check with them on how else to do it as well.

It is available for iOS and is compatible on the macbook. Your post had me look and I am enjoying it now. I had to buy it again. I meant to post this earlier but I forgot.

Especially the crazy thing they did on release where there were several different endings, distributed to different theaters. So you'd go to work and say "Hey I saw Clue and Professor Plum did it" and you're buddy would say "No I saw it last weekend and Miss Scarlet did it!"

Well, Apple Support was able to help me with 2 of the 3 issues I had. They were able to authorize my computer. I was able to transfer my music. And I found a lot of the iTunes option. It turns out the menu bar on the top is dynamic and is in place for the active application. Something I did not realize until today. They could not help me with migrating playlists. Turns out the only way is to go on old iTunes and export and then import. Since old computer is dead that option does not exist. No way to do it from iPhone. I am in for a long rebuild. All of which needs to be done before I can sync my phone to my computer.
