Wow. Not sure how smart it is to announce in mid-November that the new phones and OS wont be available until the end of January

BlackBerry 10 Smartphones to Be Launched at End of January - ABC News
People have known it was going to be announced in the 1st quarter of 2013. Being in the first month of that quarter is the "news." But they were always targeting 2013 anyway.

I never understood the holiday season for phones though. They are a personal item too me and I would never give one as a gift.

So RIM is no longer the corporate name, replaced by BlackBerry. The Z10 is available in Canada on Feb 5. The Q10 with QWERTY keyboard will come out later.

Does anyone think that RIM or Blackberry has any shot of making it?

They had the market wrapped up and stopped innovating.

They have not only been passed but lapped at this point.

I have a friend that went from a Blackberry last year to a Galaxy S and he was blown away.

The 10 looks to be getting rave reviews but this is what they should have unvield 4 years ago. Too little too late.

I almost bought a Blackberry before the iPhone came out. This would probably tip the scale slightly if I were faced with that choice now.

I don't think they can pull it off at this point either.
It's too bad. They were on a gravy train with biscuit wheels.

With a steady subscriber ( yes paid monthly ) base of around 70,000,000 and a lot of very unhappy BB customers who don't want to change to a different platform ( some are even happy with the current devices ) there is a lot of people going to upgrade to the new BB10 devices. I see people who have gone from BB only to come back and the devices weren't even close to the level of the BB10 devices.
