I hear they will announce the five acts to make it this year on Wednesday.

My predictions:
Beastie Boys
Alice Cooper
J. Geils
Joe Tex
Tom Waits

How does Neil Diamand qualify for the R&R HOF? Like he is an amazing artist and quite a talent and I enjoy his music. And he probably should qualify for the POP MUSIC HOF. But if you are going to name yourself the R&R HOF, should your acts not be R&R acts? ABBA and Neil Diamond are not what comes to mind when I think of Rockers.

If they are expanding the market, then they should just rebrand it as the Music Hall of Fame. Might help them out a bit - have a few wings devoted to all types of music.

As for Rush, I dig those guys - but man, $100 minimum for tickets is rough. Last time they were here at Pine Knob (DTE to you youngsters) it was something like $75. There are bands that I REALLY like that I'd have a hard time laying down that kinda money for, especially at a place as huge as The Palace of Auburn Hills, where they are playing this time.

Hope you have a great time though. I saw them once, and it was a great show.

That's not a bad idea for the HOF. Rebrand and expand. I think it would make people less touchy about who's getting in.

I think I've seen Rush 7 or 8 times. First show was the Signals tour. Tix were around $12 or something. (I saw Dokken, Aldo Nova, and Blue Oyster Cult for $9.95 back in 84 or so. . . . ) The Rush tix ranged from $50 to (I think) $97 for regular seats. They have a premium package for around $250 or so. I got the middle tix for $70 (including the stupid ass Ticket Bastard fees.) It's been several tours since I've seen them. I saw them at the Palace once. I've never seen a show at DTE at all. The Huntington Center here in town isn't huge, so it should be a pretty decent place to see them. It could be the last Rush show for me. I haven't been really into their latest albums, but the 2 that they pre-released aren't too bad. So I can only hope that the rest of the album hits a little closer to home for me.

I did score tickets to see Rush this April. They're playing Moving Pictures in it's entirety. I'm really looking forward to it.

I saw Rush for most tours from 2112 thru signals. After that point (signals), they started to embrace the electronic movement a bit too much, getting away from what made them popular and lost me for a bit. Anything older than moving pictures - I would have shelled out the bucks to see 'em. Play permanent waves or hemispheres in entirety - it would push me to spend the bucks.

They were popular in Cleveland from their first album onward, so they made quite a few trips to the area, often playing small venues. I haven't decided if I will catch them this time around or not. Might look around the tour to see if they are playing in an interesting outdoor venue in the spring.

I only guessed two of them.

Since I'm a Red Sox fan, I can't complain about Neil Diamond too much. Singing Sweet Caroline at Fenway Park is like a Rock and Roll experience. But that might be a biased opinion.

I'm surprised they didn't select Beastie Boys. They should get in soon.

Neil Diamond did write 'I'm a believer' for the Monkees, and a few others for other artists that I don't know off the top of my head. That should qualify him by itself.

Another year - another Rush snub

Guns N' Roses, Eric B. & Rakim Nab Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame Nods - Music, Celebrity, Artist News | MTV

I would have bet the farm that this would have been the year that Rush finally made it in. Successful tour and the live event in the city where they broke stateside. Instead, Guns-N-Roses, Beastie Boys, Red Hot Chili Peppers, and Heart get the nod in front of them. The HOF pickers must really hate anything that resembles progressive rock.

I live under a half hour from the hall and will never walk thru the doors.

I saw HEART back in 1986. The best concert I have ever seen. That is cool they still put on a great show.

How many concerts have you been to? I'm guessing not too many.

My top 5:

1. Pink Floyd '94
2. Ozzfest 2008 with Metallica
3. Ozzy Osbourne retirement sucks tour New Years Eve 95/96
4. Page/Plant '95
5.Tool I think 2004

That just scratches the surface
PS, gotta add GWAR in 2000 to this list too!

Rush's Neil Peart takes a ride in his Ohio time machine: Exclusive | cleveland.com

Interesting essay by Neil Peart for the Cleveland fishwrap last Sunday. Best line:

But there was also the impish notion of poking a sharp stick into the eye of a certain other Cleveland institution. With regard to Groucho Marx's famous remark -- "I wouldn't want to belong to any club that would have me as a member" -- I have stated before that personally the three of us are not too bothered about that snub. We have achieved plenty of success and professional respect without those self-appointed judges, thank you very much.

The RRHOF is still
DEAD TO ME!

If you google "the rock and roll hall of fame is dead to me"
the rock and roll hall of fame is dead to me - Google Search
