UPDATED: SiriusXM, Pandora and CMT have joined the biggest radio chains in the nation, including iHeartRadio, Cumulus and Entercom, in pulling the plug for now on the music of Morgan Wallen, in the wake of a fast-brewing scandal over the country star being captured on tape using the N-word.

“Yes, we have pulled Morgan Wallen’s content from SiriusXM and Pandora,” a spokesperson for the satellite radio service and the streaming company said Wednesday afternoon.

I like Morgan Wallen's music – he's had 10 top-ten country hits and two number ones – but is it fair to ban his songs and suspend his recording contract just because he used the so-called "N-word"? Yeah, like there is only one word beginning with N. He also called somebody a "pussy" and a "motherf***er." Apparently those words are acceptable.

First I've heard of the guy and I listen to Country (although not today's stuff, with one or two exceptions, which is probably why).

A country musician using a racist word? I'm shocked! Next thing you know some NASCAR driver will shock us and do the same thing! /sarcasm

Okay okay not all country musicians and NASCAR drivers are racist, in fact I'm sure most aren't. But it's not quite as unexpected as some other genres (or professions).

To mouth off from the other side of the argument, if we're banning singers who use that word, we should ban John Mellencamp too:

"They're So Tough" (1991)

They'd like to make me their n-----
I say to hell with them
I'm not gettin' down on my knees
And beggin' please
Can you throw me a crumb now and then

He's the guy that was supposed to be on SNL till he was busted violating the social distancing rules before he came on the show.
He's an idiot and boo hoo for the situation he's gotten himself into.

Meanwhile, nobody's pulled Marilyn Manson despite the controversy regarding the alleged abuse of several women. Then again, there's no concrete evidence he did such a thing, either.

I wouldn't be surprised to find out that Manson released those stories.
They may be true, but he used to be a bad boy and hasn't had any shocking press in a long time.

One Year Later, Morgan Wallen Is Back — But Is the Country Community Ready to Move On?

Since then, Wallen’s career has not only rebounded but exploded, with his temporary exile spurring his fans on. Dangerous, which came out Jan. 8, 2021, surged in sales, spending 10 weeks at No. 1 on the Billboard 200 — the most of any album in nearly five years — and earning 3.226 million equivalent albums last year, making it the most popular album in the U.S., according to MRC Data. As of this week, it has spent 54 nonconsecutive weeks in the chart’s Top 10 — the second most of any country album ever. In December, “Broadway Girls,” a duet with rapper Lil Durk and Wallen’s first new release since Dangerous, topped Billboard’s Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs chart, and Wallen’s own “Sand in My Boots,” stands at No. 4 on Billboard’s Country Airplay chart.

You know the difference.
I don't personally believe the difference is valid. Of course the true comparison is if someone like Eminem used it in a song meaning the same thing.

But my position is nobody should use it. So I am not saying anybody is wrong for pulling his music.

How could a racist still light up the charts, taking half of the top then this week? Country music! That's how!
