In January 1961, William “Smokey” Robinson had his first big hit as lead singer of the Miracles when Shop Around went to number one on the R&B chart and #2 on the Hot 100. In May 1975, Smokey had his first solo number-one R&B hit, Baby That’s Backatcha. In November 2023, Smokey became curator and host of SiriuusXM’s Soul Town channel. This list has 1,380 songs and is not necessarily complete – so no fair complaining. Chart positions are from Billboard’s R&B charts.
