Mister Hectic believes the Gabriel Medina photo is fake. He also believes Luke Greenbank (who was disqualified) did not stay underwater longer than allowed and Ana Carolina Vieira (who was disqualified) did not sneak off with her boyfriend. Oh, and Venezuelan President Nicolás Maduro was re-elected fair and square.

Much appreciated!
Your welcome?

Ledecky, whose mother Mary was on the University of New Mexico swim team, began swimming at age six – and look at her now!

Katie Ledecky wins gold in 1,500-meter freestyle, tying record for most Olympic gold medals by a female swimmer

It's crazy how certain athletes, such as Ledecky, can compete against the best in the world, and yet blow them away by miles.

I am not watching the olympics. It's a cespool of corruption and most importantly, there is no hockey in the summer. And I have snoozed all the American Olympic crap which has flooded my Facebook feed. As little as I care about the olympics, I care about American accomplishments less. They always get the most medals and yadda yadda yadda. But since this thread seems to be flooded with this crap, let me add to it. Yet ANOTHER gold for this lady swimmer from Canada.

USA! USA! USA!

But anyway, when I said this

I actually first thought of this when I saw the Canadian, Summer McIntosh, win a swim by over 7 seconds. It's mind-blowing that you can assemble the best swimmers from all over the world, yet none of them can even get into the same camera shot as her.

They aren’t showing much of Paris.
They usually show the cauldron at pretty much any commercial break, and lots of shots of the venues. Almost nothing this time.

Here are the ten countries with the most medals. Number one will come as no surprsise to IRBS – and maybe not to anybody.

France, 36 (11 gold, 12 silver, 13 bronze)
China, 31 (13 gold, 9 silver, 9 bronze)
Great Britain, 27 (9 gold, 10 silver, 8 bronze)
Australia, 22 (11 gold, 6 silver, 5 bronze)
Japan,18 (8 gold, 4 silver, 6 bronze)
Italy, 17 (5 gold, 8 silver, 4 bronze)
South Korea, 16 (7 gold, 5 silver, 4 bronze)

The medal count keeps rising but today's top ten is the same as yesterday's top ten. However, if you look at gold medals only, Canada fell from 9th place yesterday to 10th place today (in a tie with Germany).

USA, 61 (14 gold, 24 silver, 123bronze)
France, 41 (12 gold, 14 silver, 15 bronze)
China, 37 (16 gold, 12 silver, 9 bronze)
Great Britain, 33 (10 gold, 10 silver, 13 bronze)
Australia, 27 (12 gold, 8 silver, 7 bronze)
Japan, 22 (8 gold, 5 silver, 9 bronze)
Italy, 19 (6 gold, 8 silver, 5 bronze)
South Korea, 21 (9 gold, 7 silver, 5 bronze)
Canada, 15 (4 gold, 4 silver, 7 bronze)
Netherlands, 14 (6 gold, 4 silver, 4 bronze)

Summer McIntosh – insert lame and predictable "Summer Olympics" joke here – today became the first Canadian to win three gold medals in a single Olympics.

Summer McIntosh wins women's 200m IM final, capturing record 3rd gold medal of Olympics
