You can always try with a check.

For the last many years, possibly even over 10, I had always bought gift cards when possible. Originally, I had to buy Best Buy gift cards to get the grocery store gas discounts, then buy Sirius cards at Best Buy.

Thankfully, my grocery store now sells SiriusXM cards. Best Buy started a thing a few years ago where you can't buy gift cards with gift cards.

I've been paying $11.95/month for the sat/streaming package over the past year, with a promotion they gave me. Yesterday I got a notice that my card was hit for $30. I guess I let the promotion lapse.

So I called them up, and resisted all suggestions to text or chat with them. I was on-hold for about 10 minutes, during which they repeated a 30 second loop of light jazz that was probably recorded in the 80s. The music would abruptly cut-off and then start again. And I'm thinking to myself that they have access to hundreds of channels of continuously streaming music, and this is what we get?

Anyway, the personal interaction was painless. I identified myself as a longtime subscriber who was looking for available discounts, and she offered me a 50% off promotion. It started at $11.95/month, but that didn't include the fees and royalties. Added up, it was $15/month, and I took it.

If you just want Music & Entertainment, I have heard...

$99 for 3 years ($2.75/mo) -- Probably the same deal as above. Ha. That says "Sirius Select" but I think the "Music and Entertainment" is the updated version.

$149 for 5 years ($2.48/mo)

This is the package I have, & my renewal is coming up. That $150 deal would be tempting.

Welp...I just spent over a half hour in the chat with XM, & they wouldn't give me either of these deals. The best they would do was offer the same $6 a month ( before royalty fees ) deal I've had for several years now.

So I told 'em to cancel my service. We'll see what happens now.

I'd try back on Monday with the phone number. They're probably connecting you to some obscure Asian country at this time.

Eh. This is the first time I've let my subscription lapse, but I've always heard that when you do within a couple weeks you'll get offers like the ones they wouldn't give me today begging you to come back.

And if they don't, they don't. Since I work from home now, literally 99% of my listening is in the car. And I'm only in the car a couple hours a week. Even at 7 bucks a month, that seems like kind of a waste of money. Since I became a customer 7 years ago we got a decent classical radio station in KC. And I just got a new phone with a 512GB storage card in it, so if nothing else I can just hook that up to my car radio. So there's options if I end up not going back.

Kinda thought I would break 'em, but they were solid on only giving me my current deal. So I said "fuck it - let's see what happens".

I've seen free for three months and I've also seen $3 for 3 months. If SiriusXM doesn't give you a good offer, do this the first day you need it... immediately cancel, it'll turn off by itself and then wait until you need it again. If you go three or four weeks without subscribing, your end date will obviously be extended. If you have multiple emails addresses and one doesn't work, cycle through... although I've signed up for these just by giving my license plate information. Of course that's with the stock radio that came with the car.

And yeah, I've also seen those offers. They definitely exist.

Tonight over on Slick Deals I saw a topic about a "$3 a month for 3 years" promo, so I figured what the hell. I searched my Radio ID on the site, but it said I wasn't eligible.

So I got into a chat with an agent. Within 5 minutes he offered me that deal.

$3.63 a month. For 3 years. I'm now paying basically half of what I was before.

And I was without their service for 1 day. One. Day.

Is that everything? I'm paying $3.99/mo for two years ending in December 2025.

Oh wait. I think I found the same deal. This is just Music & Entertainment.

I've been getting almost-weekly emails about "$4 per month for 12 months" for a radio which is turned off.

I just got an offer:

$48 for a year (plus taxes/fees) and it includes headphones. Respond by 12/31.

Edit: It's officially $3.99/mo plus taxes/fees for All Access. You only need to pay for two months. They send an email with a redemption for the headphones. Headphones mailed within 6-8 weeks. They look SIGNIFICANTLY better than anything that came with the Stiletto radios.

$48 for a pair of headphones (for you) and putting the radio in someone's else's car is a Christmas gift for them.

The SiriusXM subreddit mentioned a promotion of $2.99/mo for three years. I asked an agent about this, but it's "invite only."

My current promotion is $3.99/mo and ends on 12/17/2025. If I could sign up for $12 less per year ($36 total) and go to December 2027, I'd do so in a heartbeat.

SiriusXM really wants this to be on an inactive radio.

I was able to do it on an existing radio as a "one-time special offer" or whatever they said. It all works out, considering I'm already at $4/mo anyway. It just extends my current subscription from 12/17 of 2025 to my new renewal date of 1/1/2026.

The promo ends 12/31.

And, of course, their redemption link sends me to an error page...but apparently when I cleared the browser cache, things worked.
