How is an Ed Sheeran channel payola? I thought payola was giving "incentives" to program directors to add a song into rotation

Music company gives SXM money to promote artist with channel. I think that is the parallel.

Really? Wow had no idea. I thought it would be the other way. SXM has to pay every time they play an Ed Sheeran song. A channel dedicated to his music means more money for the music company.
