The Lions Club is holding an Easter Egg Hunt at our park just down the block on Saturday. They did it for the first time last year which reminded me of when my wife would hold Easter Eggs Hunts at that park and I would help her. We would invite everyone in the three-block radius of our neighborhood and some of her friends. The little girl next to us wanted one and would help and our kitty corner neighbor would do face painting. My wife has an Easter Bunny costume, and she would get someone to wear it. She would also put prize tickets in some of the eggs and the kids could choose from her vast number of trinkets and trading cards she has in the basement. My favorite was the plastic red heart we would hide with the other eggs, and I saw this little boy dash to it as soon as my wife said "go".
One year it was so cold we had it in our house; we did a 10 or 15 egg draw anywhere from 9am-2pm.
And the year we had that virus (2020), she posted on Facebook and rented a black convertible and dressed as the Easter Bunny, she had a police officer escort behind us, and we had a mini parade for the homes, apartments and the YMCA in our neighborhood association. We drove around for an hour, and I would announce the Easter Bunny down each street. Everyone was into to it especially the kids were trapped inside their homes. Then she stayed in her outfit, and we drove the car downtown and she waved to the other cars and anyone that was out.
The years after the virus we just ran out of time and energy to do anything, so we just stopped. I'm happy that the Lions Club has picked up the hunt at the park now, but it may be a bit nippy this time
