2026 Movies and TV Shows

I'm watching Lanterns on HBO. It's kind of neat. Coach Taylor from Friday Night Lights is the old man Green Lantern and this handsome black dude is the new Green Lantern that he's supposed to be training to take his spot. But Coach Taylor is kind of a crotchety old dick and the young guy has to put up with him. Episode 2 came out last night. I haven't watched it yet but episode 1 was good enough that I'll stick with it for at least a couple more hours to see what happens.
 
We are going to the "Odyssey" at 8:45 tonight. It will be our last chance to see it as tonight is the last night. I guess they need to make room for the Coyote movie and the Margaret Qualley movie "The Dog Stars". We will be getting out around midnight. Fun night in the city
 
I seen both episodes of Lanterns. The first one was slow as fuck and second one was a bit better. The up and coming previews pretty much so all the best scenes.
 
I was coming here to say almost exactly the same thing wolf. I just got finished episode 2 and I liked it significantly more than episode 1 and it has me. Looking forward to next week.

The thing that I like about this show is I have zero knowledge of Green lantern as a superhero. I didn't even know he wore a ring until episode 1 and that the ring needed to be charged. I don't know anything about like villains from the comics or what the hell a manhunter is. So all of this being brand new to me is cool.

Also it sucked that the kid lantern got rid of his bird. At the end of the episode I was digging that bird. I hope it comes back.
 
I don’t know much about the Green Lantern universe either. I follow Marvel way more.

I knew the ring had to be recharged in order to be used, but I found it weird that Hal made John go fetch his lantern. I thought he’d say a few choice words and the lantern would magically appear.

Koop, if you watched Ryan Reynolds’ Green Lantern movie, one of the villains was Sinestro, who was locked up in Episode 2.

I don’t know much about the Manhunters either. I used to watch Supergirl, which was part of the Arrowverse, and Martian Manhunter was really the only “Manhunter” I knew until they introduced the female version.

Supposedly, from what I remember without looking it up, the White Martians killed off almost all of the Green Martians, leaving Martian Manhunter as the last one of his kind. So I’m guessing they’re changing the origin/storyline from the Supergirl TV show?

And I just looked it up to make sure I wasn’t completely remembering it wrong. In Supergirl, the White Martians were indeed responsible for the genocide of the Green Martians, and J’onn was portrayed as one of the last surviving Green Martians.

One important thing, though: the Manhunters in Lanterns are not Martian Manhunter or the White Martians. They’re an entirely different thing ancient synthetic/robotic beings created by the Guardians before the Green Lantern Corps. So Lanterns is introducing the comic-book Manhunters, while Supergirl was dealing with Martian Manhunter (J’onn J’onzz) and the White Martians.

So your confusion actually makes a lot of sense. DC basically decided, “Yeah, let's have multiple things called Manhunter.”

Getting caught up from the last couple weeks again. #52 was part of a package of the work of David Cronenberg.

"The Ugly Stepsister" was the gnarliest movie I've seen in awhile. I really liked it & it's easily available if you have Hulu. But it's not for the faint of heart by any measure.
 
Back to last Wednesday night, "The Odyssey" was very entertaining. I did not understand all of it but it had very exciting parts. It was interesting too lots of the cast in "SpiderMan Brand New Day" were in this movie. Tom Holland, Zendaya and the guy in "The Accountant" and "The Accountant 2" who was the Accountant's brother and was the bad guy in 1 but turned good in 2 just like in "SpiderMan Brand New Day" was the bad guy at the start but ended up helping SpiderMan by the end. It was also cool to leave the movie at midnight This was also my first movie seeing Eliot Page as Eliot Page
This gives me another Wolf Blockbuster List movie for 2026
