2026 Movies and TV Shows

Apparently, Only Murders in the Building is back for another season (6?) on Hulu. We haven't had Hulu since we finished last season, which was about a year ago; and we were both less than thrilled with that season. So before we sign back-up for Hulu, we're going to wait until there's a verdict on this season.
I will watch out for that to see when it starts. I still have Hulu for hockey and college football. I guess I could also watch that NFL Red Zone thing. And I see "Nobody Wants This" Season 3 will be coming soon. October 22nd It will be nice to have some new shows to watch on the soon to be brisk weekend nights. It would be nice to get Season 3 of "A Man on the Inside" too

I just looked it up. It starts in December, and it takes place in London.
Ya threw me with the post that it had already started. We were surprised that we hadn't seen promos that it was airing.
The Mrs thinks that there is a trailer out, but we haven't looked for it yet.

Just finished watching the Carrie miniseries on Prime Video, and I really enjoyed it! It had so much more depth than the original film, giving the story and characters more room to develop. I also loved catching some of the Easter eggs Mike Flanagan sprinkled throughout, connecting it to the larger Stephen King universe. Definitely worth watching!

1) How was the movie?
2) Why were you proud to pass on the concessions?
Thanks for your interest Scotch:
1) How was the movie? I thought it was fine. A little difficult to understand for me as I am not much into Facebook or knowledge of the Facebook File scandal. Plus it had the disadvantage of following "Verity" which I really liked.
2) Why were you proud to pass on the concessions? I knew I would be having a late dinner as we played Bunco after the movie.

I think my next movie will be "Klara vs the Sun" with Jenna Ortega. I wanted to read the book for the Library Evening Book Club but checked out the Afternoon Book Club book at the same time and I could not read both at the same time (too much reading) so I just said heck I'll just go see the movie when it comes out. Someday I will try the Evening Book Club. My guess is that it will be a younger crowd than the Afternoon one

I saw "Other Mommy" at the theater Friday. It was so-so. It was a perfect hour and a half for time. If it went longer, it probably would not have been enjoyable. Jessica Chastian played both the Mommy and the Other Mommy. I had seen her before in "Scenes from a Marriage" on HBO. Ironically, even though this was a monster movie, she played the same role of cheating on her husband and wanting to reconcile. The little girl Bela (like Bela Lugosi) was played by Annabella Olivia Clark. She reminded me of Makenna Grace when she played in "Gifted" at that age.
All in all, it was not a bad way to spend for a somewhat gloomy Friday afternoon.
Plus they were giving out "Other Mommy" mini posters. I picked one up, so I have my own "Other Mommy" mini poster. It was too bad they were not giving out mini posters for "Verity".

Next, I want to see "You Can See Everything" with Elizabeth Holmes either this weekend or next Tuesday then "Klara vs the Sun"
According to the Box Office Mojo, 2026 movies have a domestic gross of 8 billion with two and a half months to go. 2025 drew 8.5 billion total and I sure liked the movies from 2025. With a Hunger Games movie coming before the end of the year, it may reach 9 billion. It seems to me that movie going is still a popular outing.

We saw "You Can See Everything" Sunday afternoon and it was well attended. We had to sit in the very front row because all the other rows were sold out. The last time we had to sit in the first row was for 'Joy" with Jennifer Lawrence and the last time we saw a movie with all the seats sold out was "Arthur the King" but that was a bus load of teens. Plus, when we got out, I saw that it was showing in three different theater rooms and they had most of the sections behind the walking lane sold out online. And it was Packers game night. This was more popular than the whale movie or Street Fighter or Sense and Sensibility.
It was three hours. A most interesting documentary, almost like an actual movie. The director was staying with Elizabeth Holmes and her family for around 20 days before serving her prison sentence. After that, for the last hour, the director visits Amanda Seyfried as they investigate and reenact the director's visit of Elizaberh Holmes in prison. The quest of the director was to uncover if Elizabeth Holmes truly believed her innocence, whether she knew of her new husbands attempt to profit from the documentary and challenging factuality in the Hulu series "The Dropout" with Amanda Seyfried playing her. All in all, a good one and always nice to see Amanda Seyfried
There were no mini posters for this one, but I still need to find a spot or put away my "Other Mommy" mini poster. I still have it on the living room floor.

Song Sung Blue, the movie based on a real life Neil Diamond impersonator, made its way to Netflix, and we watched it last night. Good movie, with a lot of well-known actors in it. I also have a little more appreciation for the span of Diamond's song catalog.

My wife asked if I'd be interested in seeing it and I said no. But if she insists, at least there's some hope now for it.

We had a friend over, so instead of watching any of the TV series we'd normally do, we remembered that it was available. Any time we watch a movie, it's either because someone is visiting, or we have nothing else to watch. So there's rarely a case in which I'd say no (even if I wasn't particularly interested).

But you, on the other hand, must have a variety of other things to get to. Like listening to Stern shows from 2003, or ranking 80s songs, or enjoying that New Hampshire nightlife.

My wife complains about how busy I am (three music projects plus tennis).

But then when we have a night together it's "What do you want to watch?" "I don't know what do YOU wanna watch?" "I don't know....."

That's right after "What do you want for dinner?" "I don't know what do YOU wanna eat?" "I don't know..."

So I don't worry about being too busy.

I went to opening day of "Klara and the Sun". Wife too. It was a cute film with Jenna Ortega and Amy Adams. Disappointed by the crowd but it was a very nice day to be outside with the Harvest summer coming close to the end. About the struggles of a pilot model robot. Klara was a B1 robot, and they were making B3's now. I cried in a few scenes. I wonder how I would react if I would have read the book for the evening book club prior to the movie. But as mentioned before, I was not able to manage reading two books at the same time. I can barely handle one in a month. Not a good concentrator. Maybe, Jenna Ortega gets nominated for Best Female Actor in a Lead Role. Wife did not think so though she enjoyed the movie too. I will just say, all in all, another good movie in line with mostly all the other 2026 movies I have seen this year.

Back to the kiddie combo, we get because you get just enough popcorn/soda to satisfy your craving. and cherish each kernel. However, it comes in such a little box that the kernels are always dropping out of the box if you are not careful. especially walking to your seat.

I think your wife is likely right about no nomination. Some reviews from the wiki article:

Reaction to Klara and the Sun among critics following its premiere showing was largely negative.[26] On the review aggregator website Rotten Tomatoes, 24% of 62 critics' reviews are positive, with an average rating of 4.4/10. The website's consensus reads: "Flattening the nuanced ideas of its acclaimed source material with a tonally broad approach, Klara and the Sun aims to be endearing and inspiring but winds up being cloying and twee."[27] Metacritic, which uses a weighted average, assigned the film a score of 30 out of 100, based on 25 critics, indicating "generally unfavorable" reviews.[28]

Peter Bradshaw of The Guardian gave the film 1 star out of 5, describing it as a "sentimental mess".[29] David Jenkins of Little White Lies described the film as having a "juvenile habit of undercutting any hint at profundity with a jolt of silly humour or a comic rug pull".[30] David Rooney of The Hollywood Reporter panned the direction and screenplay, stating: "it keeps straining for poignancy while trampling on any hint of genuine emotion with forced humor that rarely prompts even a smile ... Not only does Waititi’s film have nothing to say about the evolving relationship between humans and AI, it fails even in the more pedestrian territory of friendship, love, grief and that tired old thematic staple of reminding us to cherish every moment while we can. The movie is fatally twee... It misses that mark and just about any other that might be considered entertaining."[31]

Yes, not only the reviews, I guess "Klara and the Sun" did not do very well on opening day. According to the Box Office Mojo, the movie finished last of all the movies that premiered on Friday by a wide margin. And I thought it was because people were not showing because of the nice weather. I was really rooting for Jenna Ortega in this one. She played "Wednesday" you know.

While the Elizabeth Holmes movie type documentary was the top movie on Wednesday and Thursday until "Clayface" premiered on Friday.
I do not know if I will go see "Clayface". I think if I go, I rather see "Sense and Sensibility" instead
