What a horrible way to start a countdown.
#56 Wendy & Lisa "Waterfall"

Wendy?
Yes, Lisa?
Is the water warm enough?
Yes, Lisa
Shall we begin?
Yes, Lisa
I remember this!
#56 Wendy & Lisa "Waterfall"
Great song.
#57 Anita Baker "No One In The World"
Dionne Warwick recorded this first and the song was on her "Reservations for Two" album.
#76 Dionne Warwick "Reservations for Two"
This single was a duet with Kashif.
#80 Terence Trent D'Arby "If You Let Me Stay"
This was huge in the UK.
#81 Shanice Wilson "(Baby Tell Me) Can You Dance"
The start of the teeny boppers....
#82 Glenn Jones "We've Only Just Begun"
This was a big R&B hit too.
#86 Taja Sevelle "Love Is Contagious"
This did really well in the UK. She was pretty, but not a great singer.
#98 Living In A Box "So The Story Goes"
I didn't know this charted in the US.

This one peaked at #19

At first I was shocked to see "Friends" by Whodini didn't make the top 40, but then I realized it's because it was 1984. If that song came out 3-4 years later it definitely would've been a top 40.
"In The Air Tonight" peaked in 1981. This may be a re-release.

Aaaaaaah.

In 1984, the song was memorably used in a scene from the first episode of the television series Miami Vice .... "In the Air Tonight" received a new wave of attention thanks to its use in the series, enough for it to briefly re-chart in the United States just outside the Billboard Hot 100 at number 102.

The 1984 version was a re-release. The original release in 1981 peaked at #19. I attached a blurb from Atlantic records that I found.

I completely agree. Another song, "One Love", was released in 1986, but didn't crack the 100. I could have seen it faring better in 88 or 89.
